The wiper motor itself does not usually go bad. There's an electronic box attached to the wiper motor. That box has a tiny weep hole. When the cowl area gets flooded and remains flooded due to debris within its drains, the entire wiper motor gets submerged for days or weeks. During this period water enters the weep hole of the electronic box and corrodes the printed circuit board within. When that happens various portions of the circuit can stop working. That box tells the motor to run full speed, half speed, or various intermittent speeds. The Ford Mustang has this same issue...usually caused by leaves or pine needles, dirt being stuck in the cowl area. An astute owner knows to check the drains of this area periodically. Note: Ford or aftermarket suppliers do not sell that electronic box separately from the motor. Best to buy a used motor with that box still attached.
When replacing a wiper motor, after the wiper arms have been removed....best to run the new motor prior to reinstalling the wiper arms. Only reinstall the wiper arms after the motor has cycled into it's stop/rest position. Installing the wiper arms in the wrong position can cause them to attempt to swipe beyond the windshield and onto the trim and body of the A pillar.
Can you tell if it's this plugged drain that's causing my cv to have a wet floor pan on driver side?
@@Platos-Den Need more information from you. What also is a cv ? And what/which plugged drain. I may need a picture.
@@Platos-Den check for rust hole under the cat or pull floor liner up to expose underneath where the brake pedal hovers
Mine caught fire and toasted some stuff.
Now my transmission grinds going out of park and into gear. Almost like a vacuum leak from brake booster to trans? Anyone have any info.
2001 Mercury grand Marquis
Thank you

Hi mike! Just saw your yt name on a jeep outside of rona and was wondering if that was your car
That's my Jeep!
You are the MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!¡!!!!!!!
Guess i will not drive my crown vic in rain anymore
1999 Grand Marquis (115000kms). High speed wipers only. Control module under dash, multi-function switch or wiper motor.
Tapped on motor shaft and wiper now works in all speeds.
So internal problem in motor or bad electrical connector?
Will order motor from Rock Auto. Have spare motor from 93 Grand Marquis but may not fit. Wiper arms not fully in park position so have to get those clips to release.
We live in Arizona so I'm hopeful just the switch. 2009 crown vic
what if my blades refuse to go up like that how do i remove them
I have the same problem
@@Fluffernutter48_ any solution?
Raining here because of tropical storm Beta....nice day for the motor to go out right?
This will be the third one....
Im gonna coat this one in flex seal and seal off the center vents.... let's see if that works.
Did it work?
Mine was full of mud, dust built up plus rain. I did the switch still doesn't work most of the time. A new motor is next. I've already pulled it out 2-3 times.
Corrosion of the printed circuit board attached to the wiper motor can cause different inoperative results depending on it's mood. My wipers worked sometimes and other times not, I finally figured out it was within that electronic box. A used motor and electronic box combo fixed the issue for good.
Big hello from the state of massachusetts!
@9:24 swear that was a dead mouse for a minute lol
Any idea where I can get an adapter for a 1999 crown Vics taillights to a grand marquis (marquis trunk on a vic)
T'was a few days before Christmas 🎄 and the wipers quit working. It is cold in Calgary, not even Santa would come and fix.
Having this exact issue on my 2011 P7B... Appreciate your video! 😀
Nice work! Using only 1 hand too.
Why put the wipers in up position
Good video,,thanks
What tools do I need and size
When mine had issues the washerfluid wouldn't turn off as well. Thoughts?

Good work.
This is misleading. He said he was going to replace the motor.
