Heavy snow started today fired up the wheeler winch decided to be asleep… I’ve tried your method and it’s working perfect now! Thank you and god bless!
What a great video! My winch clicks and won’t release the cable down/out. Works fine up/in. I’ll give this a go. It’s a bugger to get to the controller on the ‘05 Bombardier Traxter though!
There are only 2 reasons the contactor doesnt work if u hear it clunking. That's spring pressure...or burnt contacts which can be cleaned wih the sandpaper. Good luck
If you are not hearing the contactor at all when you try activate it...its either a connection issue and the contactor is not getting power or the coil is not functioning
Give it a try. But if the plunger then slips below the base of the spring when retracted it will jam the contactor. Tolerances are tight. Keep us posted how it works.

Thank you! I think I have rusty connection on my winch, but if it doesn't work after I clean them up, I will try your trick.
Good information to know that will definitely save some money going forward
Thanks Danny !
Top explanation. Thanks.
Awesome… many thanks!
What if you don’t hear it attempting to click would it be the same thing?

Mine just clicks I'll try it tomorrow. I also had a bad switch cause it wasn't clicking at all until i changed the switch
Why not just put a spacer or washer.

You can’t disassemble a warm winch solenoid. It ruins the small attached wires inside.
The one I disassemble on the video is a Warn Solenoid about 2005 vintage
