    Don’t know why this popped up in my feed other than I like to learn about anything and everything. As a helicopter mechanic I found it pretty interesting!

    I got basically the same thing for my 4066 from acma, i love my flail mower only down fall is if you accidentally knock over a 4 to 5 inch thick tree it'll mulch it. Make sure u go slow around objects you dont want mulched lol

    Warning about tractor fitment. Years ago, I tested a mower with similar weight positions as this one in a Kubota L5740. This is the hydrostatic 57 hp tractor. The last I looked, the current model, the L6060 had the same 3-point lift. The lift system on the gear drive transmissions, like the one in this video, have a different, stronger 3-point lift. The mower broke the very thick heavy cast iron lever beam of one side of the 3-point lift. The tractor sat in the field for many days until the replacement part arrived because I could not disconnect the mower. The dealer thankfully bought the mower back from me. If I could carry a ditch mower on the tractor I would be happy to have it. I do not know why Kubota has 2 total different lift systems but they are not equal strength. I know this is support to be category 1 compatible but I would not trust it. It is very important to add proper weights to the tractor to safely operate this kind of mower. It is common to add wheel weight(s) (probably more than RimGuard alone can provide) to opposite side of the mower reach. This would be the left rear wheel for this mower with a right side swing. Front weight(s) are also important as when the mower is swinging it extends quite far from the rear of the tractor. My experience indicates the skid plates are required for safe operation of this implement. Without them, there is a great risk of turning the mower into a dangerous rototiller. A rototiller turns at a far slower speed than a flail mower. A mower can turn small gravel into shrapnel. I hope you have happy and safe mowing.

      The m4d and most utility size tractors have dual lift cylinders for the read where I think the 6060 has a single so it puts more stress on that one arm

    The Alamo flail mowers I ran at the State road department had slip clutches, even though they had belt drive. I don't know why they did. They were 7ft wide.

    Have a nearly identical unit (likely same origin) running on a Kubota L6060. Works very well, you do need to be a bit cautious with slopes and tractor weight - I have all 4 tires loaded and add about 100# of chain to the forks on the opposite side at the front. Will take out some sizable trees and make them vanish. Do need a Cat 2 hitch, at least for ours. Great for maintaining ditch lines and roadsides.

    I am relatively new to flail mowers. I've never used one but a friend of mine recently got one and said it's the greatest thing he's ever purchased in terms of tractor implements. I have a Branson 5835. You said this is good from 50 to 80 HP. Mine is a 58 HP utility tractor that is extremely heavy and has a remarkable lift capacity. At the lower end of the spectrum, would I feel sluggish trying to run this flail mower with only 58 HP?

    Great video so thanks for posting it up. I have a Kioti RX 6620 - which is the same size as the RX7320 but the RX 6620 only has 1 hydraulic oil filter and is said to be slightly detuned from RX730. So I'm wondering what size Flail Mower would be the largest size I could use on the RX6620. Your response is appreciated.

    what do the small flippers run like. say a rear PTO of 38 to 45 HP. do they have any power. I am think of going from a NX5510 to a RX7320 just because of HP. Are the small flails effective?

    I am somewhat surprised they put both swing arms on the same side and close together. That is much weather structurally than an arm on each side making a much wider parallelogram. Hopefully, it holds up over time and doesn’t develop too much slop in the bushings.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  Рік тому

      Common design amongst flail mower manufacturers, not specific to Del Morino. I've shown tons of flail mowers on my channel, all with this same general design. Just google "offset flail mower" and you'll see the same design in principle across the board.

    • @LTVoyager
      @LTVoyager Рік тому

      @@GoodWorksTractors I am just scratching my head trying to figure out the advantage given what is given up structurally. Maybe it is just to allow easier access to one side to connect PTO and such.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  Рік тому

      Probably a geometry thing with the swing pattern...at least that's my guess.

    • @LTVoyager
      @LTVoyager Рік тому

      @@GoodWorksTractors You actually get wider swing capability with a wider parallelogram. Bolt two 2x4s to a plate and space them 1” apart and see how far they swing to the side before one hits the other. Now space them 12” apart and repeat. The difference is significant. I assume they have a reason, but I don’t think swing reach is it. I am not sure their logic, but I assume they had a reason that simply isn’t obvious.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  Рік тому

      I don't think you need a wider swing pattern. The PTO shaft is within 2" of hitting the frame as it is. You'd have to keep widening the frame which becomes impossible at some point. The whole industry shares the design, so I'm sure lots of thought, lots of designs, and general R&D led them to settle on this configuration.
