I fell in love with Dennis Quaid watching this movie when I was just a kid. STILL love & admire him, his craft, & style. And let's not forget that sexy, mischievous smile ladies? PDRT, non?
Never knew Dennis Quaid could sing until now--and man can he ever. Great set of pipes and spectacular performance bud! Great songwriting and lyrics too. What an amazingly talented man. Just like all actors of the old days before Hollywood who could sing, dance, play an instrument and entertain--not just act.
Very talented but slightly underrated actor I’d say. During the 80’s when I was a kid, he always reminded me of Harrison Ford a bit. He’s been very consistent with his acting over the decades, and it’s good to see him still landing decent parts in current, and up coming movies.
@Dennis Quaid I have been a fan since I was 6 years old and my mom too. I seen the nights the lights went out in Georgia when I was 6 at the drive in and loved it and your acting and your songs you have an awesome voice.
@dennisquaid6775 I have loved this movie since I first saw it. I have been trying to find a copy of it, but for some reason the only thing I've been able to find are bootleg copies. Of which I don't believe in buying. Do you have any ideas for me?
ATTENTION: THIS MOVIE IS AVAILABLE ON DVD, I USED LOCAL MUSIC STORE AND THEY ORDERED..THAT'S A GREAT SONG IN THE KEY OF "G C Am D/D7" GLAD TO SEE IT HERE.
The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia 1981 is a movie inspired by the song of the same name by, Vicki Lawrance. Yes, of the Carol Burnett Show and Mama's Family.
in "The big Easy" during the first love scene, a song is playing in the background, that, I could tell, if I would only be able to hear the whole song, and hear it turned up instead of as background music, I'd love it. Only found out in the last few years that it was "Closer to You" by Dennis Quaid, and it's available on you tube: ua-cam.com/video/7cpgKfn0OPY/v-deo.html
Want to see a behind-the-scenes story of Dennis in this film, check out "Bob Austin PM Magazine, Dennis Quaid." You'll see the young Dennis actually singing in country bars.
Yeah, that whole movie was great, and great songs!! Dennis Quaid actually wrote this one, and yes, that's his voice. Great job! He also wrote "Amanda" for the movie as well. Too bad this movie has never been officially released on DVD. A lot of people would buy it in a heartbeat, but I suspect some obstacles related to legalities and rights have prevented a DVD release from happening.
WHERE CAN I FIND THE OTHER SONG HE SANG IN THIS MOVIE? THE ONLY PART OF IT I CAN REMEMBER IS (YOU MAKE IT SOUND SO EASY, LIKE COMING HOME OUT OF THE RAIN)
That song you're referring to is called Melody's Melody by David Shire. You can't really find any lyrics to it, I've looked online but didn't find any. But Amazon has this title which is a lovely instrumental. It's basically the love theme for Travis and Melody in the movie. ❤
Your the tone master! W all the best equipment ,all the best guitars $ can buy, that sounds terrible brother, !!!! Seriously! I'll never lie to you, , sounds terrible!
OMG! I didn't know this talent in him. How sweet and adorable. I fell in love with him watching the movie "Dragonheart". 😍💘
His latest album out “FALLEN’ was finished in August I believe, he did it under the Gaithersburg music label 😎👍✅

Sunny Johnson (Dennis Quaid's object of desire here) was Jennifer Beals' best friend in "Flashdance"
OMG!
😍
Absolutely my fave country song. I don't like country though, soo.
if you're born in texas you can sing
I only remember where Kristy Mcnichol pulls this gun that had a barrel that was a mile long from the glovebox of their truck.
He wasn’t gonna take no for an answer and that’s how I knew he was mine

You didn't know he can sing? Were you living in a cave? He does at least on 3 films!
A similar film comes to mind with Jeff Bridges from a few years ago where he played a burnt out singer, most awful film compared to this.
Too bad he let cocaine overtake his life. He could have been a truly great music artist.
he looks like spanish rafa nadal, hahahaha
he looks like patrick swayze lol
