It never got canceled. Production got shut down because of COVID. Before March they were rehearsing in London, but because of COVID Halle came home and production hasn’t been cleared to open up yet.

However, the culture and traditions of China are central to the story of Mulan which is why you can't have a black girl or white girl playing her! You understand???
