Saw these guys at Princeton University in 1979 opening for Elvis Costello. Their set, and this song in particular, was about the tightest I've ever seen a band in concert.
Thanks Mike.. I remember seeing Elvis Costello but I thought it was 78 at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby and the rubinoos did open up they were surprisingly good I never heard of them
Why didn’t these guys become huge? Oh! It’s probably because so much far worse music is promoted and listened to. (The same thing happens with film as well.)
@@donaldfewell8908 You know, I have that album somewhere. But not readily available. When I saw them in 1979, I don't remember anyone playing piano but there were definitely only four guys on stage: Tommy Dunbar and Jon Rubin on guitars, Royce Ader on bass, and Donn Spindt on drums, the same lineup as in this video, the first album, and maybe the second. If they used outside musicians on the albums, I just can't remember.
That is indeed Mark Naftalin playing the piano part. Paul Butterfield was my favorite band in 4th grade, and I couldn’t believe we got him to do the solo. He came in and knocked out the whole song in one take if I remember correctly. - Tommy

@@markgreene6349 Nope, we never heard of them either. But our concert had to have been 1979 because that's the year we all turned 17 and could drive.
Andrzej" saw them opening for Greg Kihn' What a band.. Perfect harmonies....Drank a few.
Thank you Chuck Prophet for sending me here. That was fantastic.
Yes, thank you, Chuck Prophet! Excellent (albeit creepy Halloweeny) performance!
That is some expert elbow synching, Tommy 🙂 Mark Naftlin would be proud!
This band has a couple of great songs on the "Revenge of The Nerds" soundtrack!

Amazing Band doing The Cadillacs proud. These guys can do everything from Doo-Wop to Punk Rock
