Kelly would remember because it was so personal to her. I can picture him telling her she was a shitty songwriter (and she should appreciate what she’s been given). She wanted Because Of You on her first album, but the label didn’t like it. She had to fight to get it on the 2nd album, so it makes total sense that this episode was about Because Of You. I didn’t think Since U Been Gone was nearly as controversial to the label, except for maybe they didn’t like her final arrangement of the song. It makes sense to me that Kelly would cry over a song that she personally wrote being shit on by the boss rather than a song she didn’t write.
