Thank you for your helpful instructions. Today, I cleaned the drains of my e60. I noticed dirt from the brake vacuum side, so I washed it carefully. It seems that the cable shown in the video got wet, and now my iDrive doesn't work and turns off. The BMW's warning beeps are also gone. Can you please recommend a solution or an investigation method?

My E70 pre LCI had the VVT module full of water and the box was half full of water. VVT module was fried.
Saw nathans vid good info. But you need to learn to drive on the left hand side it'll cure our problem. LOL LOL Love your info.

@@BMWDoctorThink four legs instead of four wheels. For Medieval swordsmen on horseback, it made sense to keep to the left to have their right arms closer to their opponents. (Presumably the 10 to 15 percent of left-handed knights just had to make it work.) Mounting and dismounting was also easier from the left side of the horse, and safer done by the side of the road than in the center. The left handers use the RIGHT side of there brain. I am left handed . Your a good fella LOL LOL
The heading says “ I Drive Fix” what’s that got to do with pollen filters?
Hey! Washed car, radio and idrive and idrive knob wont work. Interestint is that, when ignition is on 1 (car shuted off) radio and idrive works, when i turn ignition on 2 or i start ir, idrive, radio wont work and frezes. Even warning audio ( for example, seatbelts) has no audio, that standart bmw beep.
Hasnt checked the drain hose.
Whats the problem?

Today I just wash the drains and my ccc turns off also the warning beeps are gone.

Hello Dean I have 2004 525d E60 , the Idrive controller is not working,head up display works but the controller and menu doesn't work ? They have power ,fuses are fine and I bought another controller and still nothing ! Help please!

So are we saying that if we discover any water, and empty it out of the compartment the iDrive should work perfectly again? I had torrential rain for 2 days and since then my iDrive has flickered on the screen like white noise on a TV but my Radio & Aux work fine.

Checked and zero water. Iam from Czech so i have DME on this side. On Master cylinder side there are no gromets only one with tubes. But on the DME side i dont know how to get to them, dont want to take it out :D Anyway great tip, i will be working on my engine soon so might as well take closer look at it. #M54B22
Yes do that as water does get in there and destroy the modules in the uk the driver side is brake servo passenger side is dme box

that's your drive gone mate that's the chips over heated drive needs full repair

Recently took my 3 series to bmw for a service and mot, never had any problems with my I drive, upon receiving my car back my whole interface doesn't work and says no signal? The language the service engineer is using is that they haven't done anything to it, I never had a problem and it wasn't like that when I took tbmhe car in. Am I gonna have to pay for them to put it right as all the screen says is no signal everytime I click nav phone or media or anything it just resets
Hi, i have bmw e60 2007 and where i start the car it shows up with the traffic warning message. I try to press the controller to accept the message but it doesnt work. I press menu and that does not work. But i can hear the radio etc and i can control the radio and volume on the steering wheel buttons. What could the problem be? Just replace the controller and menu button? Thanks mate

They must have redesigned this because my 58 plate has a long rectangular drain in front of the master cylinder and mine was completely dry.
I have a 07 E92 and the Idrive doesnt boot. Shows the BMW screen then goes black. The idrive controller knob is just spinning freely. I don't feel the notches when turning.
Is this because the idrive isnt working or do i have a faulty controller thats preventing the idrive from booting?

Hi. I have an E64 2006 with water in the driver's side carpet again. I cleaned out the water drain which sits under/just inform of the brake servo, 3 weeks later due to heavy rain water has come in again. So I am thinking that I need to remove both the water drain (L shape hose with a flap) and the grommet shown in this video? Can you tell me what is underneath that grommet as only the water drain is visible when removing the wheel covers. I am just worries about resolving one issue and creating another. Appreciate you help, advice and this channel.

I think this is what caused my i drive issues on the e65. The drain is now unblocked but i drive is stuck in a reboot loop (and slow battery drain), all it shows is the bmw logo and reboots. When it was first going it rebooted a few times then came back fully. Then only on hot days it would work eventually. Now not at all. Clearing the water was much later after this. Ive checked all the modules and they are showing the optical light. Ive bypassed what I can and even changed the cd nav unit. The last two things are MMI and ASK unit. Do you think its the MMI unit? Supposedly it doesn't need any modules connected to switch on. My ask unit seems functional (responds to cd insertion and removal). Just wondered your opinion. Thanks

glad i seen this, its raining right now. but for my 2004 645Ci, this is how it went, first my car alarm stopped chirping when i locked the car, then my PDC started malfunctioning, Then i got a high battery drain message, Then the passenger seat stopped moving and the passenger restraint message came up, i get transmission fault messages red and orange, and increased emissions.
Can someone please give me alittle direction. i am going to order all brandnew fuses, and i'll change out whatever i have to. i'm all ears at this point.

Hey man I been watching alot of your videos . My ccc hasn’t worked since I reconnected my battery . I checked every fuse in the glove compartment and they are good and swapped out the ccc same result any tips ?

Hey Doc. I got a 2005 525i, the CCC unit is bad. I first tried to replace the micro power module in the trunk but it wasn’t that later noticed that it was fine and in tact( I relocated it too) I then tried a unit from the junk yard and that didn’t work, it wouldn’t even boot loop it would just stay a black screen, but the orange LEDs would turn on. I then tried a CCC unit off of eBay that was tested and I got the same result as my original (constant boot looping). Any ideas what it could be?? I checked the radio fuse, and it’s good. Been scratching my head about it for a while. Hope you can provide some insight. (Amazing content by the way!)

I did mine 4 yrs ago on my b7 audi a4 ...i need a proper software and cable for my e91...i bought 2 of them from eBay but I can't seems to get the cable connected to my laptop and am using window 7

My drive is still black what do I do ?
It need rebuilding if it’s still black it also can mean you idrive itself is gone or if you have MPM that’s completely shot but it could also be a fuse it can be many many things on these cars

Needs fixing idrive is knackered you have car under 2006 this is normal for this to happen that’s why never buy e60 under 2006
Is there any other common faults with the I drive that I can check mate? Mine's intermittent.
It’s the chips inside mate what happens is the fan stops working and it overheats the chips and they become de soldered causing the idrive to not boot properly common problem mate

Would you say just remove the gromet complete and not put it back in? Could water pooling cause the CCC unit to be stuck in boot loop? If so, would drying out the cables help in restoring functionality or on the E60 touring 2009 model have a module where the space saver is? Couldn't see a module when I last checked there
if its 2009 do not worry you will not get water in the boot only pre lci suffered this problem

@@BMWDoctor hi I removed the circular gromet. Once removing that, where does that drain to, I.e. on to anything else it could damage. There was another drainage type of gromet, I left that in there. On the plus side there wasn't any water in mine since I cleaned it out a few years ago. Also do you put that gromet in or leave it out?

Under the pollen filter water gets in that’s why you need to mention because that causes idrive no working
@@BMWDoctor ah I see, thanks , I've just got a 1 series 55reg and the idrive is down no power to nav screen but power to the DVD and CD, I got it form a car dealer and they said it just needs a reboot lol but I have noticed the module/amp thing that's meant to be behind the rear seats on boot floor is not even there
Mate you may not have it that’s why mate so be careful you’re is 55 REG they switched out between that time to KGM line and done away with the problematic MPM so it’s not it’s missing your car probably don’t have it
Also idrive is a common common failure and will need to be rebuilt I used to do it but I stopped as it’s to much headache to do and most people have stopped doing it as it’s not worth the money for it it takes many many hours to rebuild the board after it overheats mate
Your best bit is trying to find someone WHO DOES still repair them
@@BMWDoctor Okay thanks a lot for the info I will have a search around for someone local, if a part of the system has failed can used parts be used or would things need coding ect, I took a gamble on the car starting to think I shouldn't have now people have said about the android route but it's still kinda pricey, thanks again
George Toby mate that’s the joys of owning a bmw there expensive when you don’t do it yourself be prepared mate ALOT more to come this is why man I feel it for people who don’t have the knowledge of these cars everyone thinks there reliable the only people that say there ultra reliable is people like me and others who I look after there’s for for free
