    DIY HYDRAULIC PRESS BRAKE full build
    With this yet another new compilation video!
    I recorded this video more than a year ago in the previeus workshop.
    As a hobbyist it is quite difficult to neatly bend steel, and a professional press brake is very expensive. Delivery times at metal setting houses are often high, so you want to be able to do it yourself.
    Here's the ultimate solution!
    I built this press brake from UNP 100 profiles because I did not have tube profiles in stock, but a 100x100x10 tube could also have been done well.
    The bending length is 750mm and the pressing force is 12 tons.
    I made a 45mm wide bottom mold with which I can convert a 4mm thick plate at right angles over the entire length, and a narrower 15mm for 2mm plate.
    There is an adjustable depth stop on the side so that you can set multiple settings at a certain depth / number of degrees.
    On the other side I made a knob with which you can determine the speed of the upper blade.
    The whole is fed on a 200 bar hydraulic unit.

    with two pistons the risk is one side of the blade to go lower than the other side, resulting in a bend "more open" on the high side. Large presses use a torsion arm and links to the blade to ensure the descend is the same at both sides. You could add hard stops on both sides to serve as a travel limit and ensure symmetry.

      Some large presses do. I have a 4m press and it uses valves to equalise pressure.

      Shops constantly adjust their presses to get even folds. Shimming under the V block is the most common method.

    This is awesome - do you have any problems with one cylinder extending more than the other and causing differential pressure along the length? It's tied to the same pressure so I guess it should be negligible?

    Nice work. I have two other things to say. At 12 tons where have you maxed out on thickness of steel? Also, when I was younger I also use to tack without eye protection. It catches up to you man, your going to have vission trouble if you keep that up.

    • @L98fiero
      @L98fiero 10 місяців тому

      Maximum thickness capability of the brake depends on the width of the part being formed, the width of the brake die and how tight you want the bend to be.

Maybe you don't need it (?), but you're giving a bad example to youngsters and beginning hobbyists who are watching your great channel. Tackwelding or plasma cutting without for example safety glasses is quite hazardous. Keep it safe.
