I am happy for the customer and for you because you managed to "dodge" that bullet, the touchpad will be installed later when it is available on the market. Congratulations. Excellent work Mike. Thank you very much for sharing. PS: I like those clients who "bet" on the rescue and trust you to do it. Do you remember who sent you a "surface" laptop from Malta? Another good bettor. All the best from Mexico.
A nice comment for a nice teacher and commander at the same time,,,, thanks a lot for tge support u provided me.... when i watch this video i start saying wow look what he is doing and i remembered that i did like these ❤❤❤❤ it was awsome if i made a youtube channel and shared what i did and the experiments with high expensive tools,,,, but with help of god what is coming is more exciting 😊
Good morning. Congratulations for the succesfull repair! As far as touchpad is concerned, I believe that it is not a HW problem since when you were in BIOS menu it was OK. So PCH is working and it can be rule out. My suggestion is to try a Linux live distro on USB stick and check the touch pad with a different OS. If touch pad is fine with Linux it it a WINDOWS problem (compatibility, perhaps?). Good luck, fingers crossed! Regards from Italy.
I had a similar problem with a touchpad not working once Win 10 loaded the Alps driver. I made it work by deleting the driver and let it be a simple HID device. This was on an 8th gen with LTSC
dirti bravo e scontato ho fatto il tifo per te fino alla fine comuncue bella riparazione professionale e sempre un peccato quando finiscono i tuoi video grazie ciao. una domanda hai provato ad avviare windows in modalita provvisoria?
Excellent video and repair Mike. Very powerful come-back 😉 The touch-pad since it's working on the BIOS it should be some higher level logic that doesn't work. Did you check if the touchpad board has some FLASH IC on it ? For the reworking, could you please elaborate on temperatures a bit ? What temp you set on the hot plate ? Did you take measurements on the PCB surface ? What was the target temp before you start pushing hot air from the top ?
The truth? I don't use a temperature Sensor on the board anymore but work according to my feeling. Hot plate set to 200°C, pre-heating the board for 15 Mins, Hot-Air set to 350°C 50% Airflow with a fitting Nozzle for the BGA size and let's go. Observation with microscope till I am convinced, PCH is in place, done. Did not find anything useful on the touchpad PCB but checked every single single line and component on the mainboard without success. However, I am done with it and it's okay. I gave everything I could and a 95% win is still okay for me. :) Best regards
@@fairrepair_en I know the feeling. I work here with some DELL corporate laptop boards and even if some times a finger print sensor (for example) doesn't work, it's fine as long as the board posts and loads windows. I'm going to try my luck with big BGA and I'm trying to collect as much information I can, so thanks for the info 😃 As for cleaning ME region, I can help you too if you can't find someone else available. Have a nice day Mike!
Nope, i forgot to mention. Comes from SUHMS ( Shenzhen Hong Ming Electronics Co., Ltd. / AliExpress ) Sold as "new", since from my experience it's the best chance to get a working PCH without the bootguard fuses already triggered. Best regards
This was before the dirty ME was cleaned. The point is, that it needed way too long till it shows picture, even after second and third attempt (without removing power) it was too long. This is a typical cause of dirty ME Region.
Your first attempt failed because you use too much flux… flux is “boiling” and releases gases. When this happens, if there is too much, it will cause the balls to shift and create shorts…. Good luck!
I watch a lot of repair videos from bigger repair channels, it's great to switch it up and watch small channels.
dankeschön und du hast eine abonnent!

Looks like you need the right driver for the touchpad if it works outside the OS
Yeah, the world would be perfect if this would be the issue here. tl;dr: I've tried everything I could think of to rule out a driver issue.

Awesome. Did I miss where you sourced the PCH? 👍

@@fairrepair_en …thanks Mike 👍
I've had success ordering from aliexpress and asking them to ball it with leaded. Senxin bga chip store.
congrats on your repair, but I confused in 27:00 - 28:00 you have picture on laptop, is this after you replaced clean ME region or not? thanks

check bios seting if any for tochpad
Sir where you bought the pch. Does brand new available
Nice work
SUHMS / AliExpress
Best regards
when you replace EC chip, you don't have to program it ?
This is true, except in some case where the EC sources the Code from the main BIOS like in this case. Is the same with most ASUS boards. Best regards.
very nice! but please brother, use fume extractor, inhaling those solder leads and fluxes is very bad for ur health....
All good, fume extractor is built-in to the ceiling. 👍
i got a razer blade that have the same problem witch the tracpad and keyboard and didnt respond, and with a windows update it got back to normal
This was of course one of the things i've tried. Thanks anyway and best regards
Nice fix piety that the tochpad is not working strang in bios it works good . Nice fix something stil wring with bios maybe?
I like your video's
Tried three different files and the original with cleaned ME. No luck. :)
Thanks!
@@fairrepair_en and no lose conection on ec controller. Probably you have it device anymore. Is that not what controls the mouse , touchpad etc.
@@stevedebeukelaer1424 EC pins were at least quadruple checked. Thanks for your interest. :)
