Some odd tests that I ran out in the garage while the transmit unit was still up in the office, just to see what would happen, were:
    1. Tested a 10ft 12 gauge extension cord which showed zero difference from being connected directly to the wall
    2. Tested a 100 ft 14 gauge extension cord reduced the max speed from 90 megabits to 50
    3. Tested a surge protector and the powerline adapter was on the farthest-most outlet from the power cord on the surge protector gave a 22 Megabit maximum instead of 90
    4. Tested a surge protector but the powerline adapter was plugged into the closest socket to the power cord went up from 22 to 28, but that’s still quite a difference from 90.

First time I've ever even heard of these. Where have I been?

Hi. Good video. Would these units work if the location I want to get to is on a sub box?

That’s a great question. I had been wondering about getting these out to an alternate location that’s still on the same electrical network, but is extended to something like a stand alone shop or garage. I have a friend with an out-building that we may be able to test these on. But it seems as though as long as they are on the same electrical mains connection, it should be fine. If Dan from Comtrend sees this, maybe he can say if that’s something that’s been tested. I’ll see if I can get out and test as well.

Yes, you can use this product across a sub-panel. The panel will introduce interference, so the performance will be affected. The connection will still be stable, just slower. You can anticipate an additional 40% reduction in performance if the signal is traversing a power panel.

What is your network speeds on normal Ethernet?

I can get right around 950 to 975 if I’m transferring data to the NAS via hardwired Ethernet.
