ー金刀比羅宮(ことひらぐう)がある琴平町を中心に唄われたにぎやかな騒ぎ唄。こんぴら信仰から生まれたもので、道中歌やお座敷歌として全国に知られています。
ーこんぴら船は、金毘羅参詣客のための乗合船で、こんぴらさんと親しまれ航海の安全を守る神として船人が崇拝したそうです。

温泉宿や料亭、宴会場などで舞妓や芸妓を呼んで楽しむ「お座敷遊び」、「お茶屋遊び」の曲としても知られています。小気味よいテンポと、情景豊かに詠まれた詞は、一度聞いたら忘れられません。子供の頃からよくうたっていたので、とにかく馴染み深い唄です。
