4:39--As a kid, I always thought Curdie's entrance was awesome. To this day, I still think it rocks. I mean, he's walking through a dark forest, armed with nothing but a little lantern, surrounded by these freaky-looking creatures that are the PETS OF GOBLINS and what's his reaction? He belts out a badass song that sends them all scurrying away. THAT, my friends, is how you introduce a character! And P.S., who else would love to see the Nostalgia Critic review this? :)
+patrick de jong Yeah, for aesthetics' sake, they should have gotten a more passable singer, but story-wise, it makes sense. Curdie's a peasant kid; he's not going to have a classically trained voice. And maybe that was the message--"Everyone can spread the song of goodness, regardless of their varying abilities."
+Karlsknowsbest 97 Me, too! I thought Irene was such an air-headed brat: "What does Curdie see in her? All she does is rush into danger thinking she knows everything only to scream and cry the minute she realizes she's in over her head. I would be SO much better for him!" Ah, childhood and the innocent crushes on cartoon characters it brings. :)
I remember this movie. My sister and I used to watch it everyday. When it was over we watch it again. One day my dad got rid of all of our movies. I cried for days. This brings back a lot of memories. I miss my childhood.
I remember having this on my vhs that my mum and dad gave me. I’m a 2000s kid but I watched all the movies and tv shows my mum and dad used to watch (who are in their 30s and 40s). I thought the animation and the symbols were so magical. This is something I’ll have to show to my kids ❤️
I'm about to cry with happiness. Hardly anyone I know knows about this movie. I'm just so glad to see that there are people in the world that know about it too. I loved it as a child and I love it now.
I have loved this ever since I was a wee one!! It's one of the best and most memorable movies of my childhood. For years I wouldn't go outside at night without singing to ward of the goblin pets and such...
3:16-4:30 This part scared me so much when I was younger (no joke, we had to fast-forward past this when we rented it), and, oh look, it still does. I think Irene's flight into the forest just gave Snow White's a run for her money.
Turnip was always my favorite character. Oh, how I loved that cat, and wanted one just like him. And I got my wish! My kitten Jimmy acts so much like him! All the same, I'll always love Turnip.
The music that plays over Irene's flight through the forest is eerily similar to Marco Beltrami's soundtrack used in the Carrie remake... the infamous prom Scene.
I remember me and my cousin knew every word to this movie and we would take turns playing the characters saying all lines and singing all the songs along with it acting it out. I still have the VHS but no VCR so this is awesome!
When I was a kid I thought this was amazing. Now that I’m a parent I would have kicked her butt for running around like an idiot and trying to fall Inlove when she’s just a child! Amazing how things change as adulthood approaches.
It reminds me of the Hungarian animation when I investigated this awesome feature I got very extraordinary expensively rewarded by watching what a dreamy hemdale 😍 ✨️
...is this what I think it is? ...Oh my God. This is what I think it is! I haven't watched this since I was like, five! HOLY CRAP!! :D Oh memories!!! Now I have to watch it. I have to. Thank you so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you for uploading this!!
I know, right? Why does she run into the creepy forest? Why not back to the castle, or at least back the way she came? Did she forget the way in a few seconds?
I'm so glad I found this! :D I remember being fascinated by the little critters in the forest... And isn't there a troll named Stanley? And that magical golden thread...? Anyway, thank you so much for posting this. I'm gonna enjoy the rest of the film now! :3
I love the movie and it was splendid. AlThough that hill where the hand of the goblin popped out and attempted to snatch the cat looked more like an ant-hill rather than a mole hill.
I'm 11 but it upsets me how much things change Example 1:Dora the explorer is a teen ??? Example 2:WHERES STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE the normal one Last example3:Movies like this are gone 💧
This rip comes from my hungarian dvd which has also a english audio. You can really hear and see that the company who released it digitalised the entire picture and sound quality. You can find this dvd on the dutch ebay and type a hercegno es' a kobold. Search under ended auctions and ask the seller for a dvd and he will sell you one. :)
I have seen The Thief and the Cobbler, Little Nemo, that Snow White sequel thingy, all the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale toons, and I have never even once heard of this one. How is this even possible? Well, whatever. It's not like my tastes have changed all that much in the past two decades anyway so it's not too late to watch it now. *hums while clicking part 2*
the part when the boy sings is much funnier in the Swedish version. Why? Because the actor can't sing at all... It's sounds horrific, outtune and is more of a speaking and singing-4-the-first-time. This makes it seems like the Goblins and the Pets Thinks his singing is as awful as we do x'D Don't belive me? Searc for The Princess and the goblins Swedish Ore Prinsessan och de onda trollen
I had a feeling i'd seen this movie way back when i was little and it wasn't until that kid started singing that i was 100% sure! The things that trigger your memory lol
Oh my god, i watched this so much as a kid, but for years i couldn't remember what it was called, and now i've found it again, thank you so much!
Me, too! I've watched this a long time ago! X3

thats 1 entrance but it hurt my ears
+patrick de jong Yeah, for aesthetics' sake, they should have gotten a more passable singer, but story-wise, it makes sense. TheaterRaven
now thats something to think about
TheaterRaven I was expecting something great based on your comment, but I personally I thought it was incredibly cheesy
When I was a little girl I had a crush on that boy.

Karlsknowsbest 97 i am a boy and i felt the same growing up
+Karlsknowsbest 97 Me, too! :)
I always wanted to be Irene's best friend taking some sense into her and giving her a back bone.

I remember this movie. My sister and I used to watch it everyday. When it was over we watch it again. One day my dad got rid of all of our movies. I cried for days. This brings back a lot of memories. I miss my childhood.
8:14 lol. Love the cat's face.
i've been looking for this for years!! thanks.
We had a VHS of this and my sisters used to watch morning, noon and night. Even though it got annoying, I secretly enjoyed it. Brings back memories.
Don't delete the whole new George McDonald's movie that makes me feel nice enjoying this for the first time of my life
Ooohmigod!! The NOSTALGIA!! I love it! I loved this movie so much when I was a kid! It's still freakin adorable XD Thank you!
The nostalgia critic should review this old animated film :D
"Safe in the hands of a devoted nanny" Who falls asleep on the job while her charge gets attacked by goblin minions.
Isobel Duncan not to mention she talks to herself as if she was talking to her sister (if she has one), a close relative, or a friend.
One of my favorite movies as a kid. On repeat!
I was OBSESSED with this movie when I was little. I just found it again last night and I'm so happy I did! I love Curdy
The voice of the king or guy in the beginning is john hurt, the guy who voiced hazel in watership down
Since young, I've loved this movie. Thank u for posting this! I'm glad I got to come across it again after a few years! :D

Now may those voicing Glump, Curdie's father, and Froglip RIP too.
Holy shit. I had forgotten about this movie... nostalgia just fucking punched me in the heart.
"Oh theres someone there,"
"Who is it?"
haha
3:16-4:30 This part scared me so much when I was younger (no joke, we had to fast-forward past this when we rented it), and, oh look, it still does. I think Irene's flight into the forest just gave Snow White's a run for her money.
I can understand why the animals flinch at his singing now. I never did when I was a kid.
This was my freaking MOVIE as a kid! Thanks so much for posting!

The music that plays over Irene's flight through the forest is eerily similar to Marco Beltrami's soundtrack used in the Carrie remake... the infamous prom

Irene running in the woods reminds me of Snow White.
This movie used to both terrify and overjoy me as a child. I remember very little of it, I'm actually afraid to rewatch it. ._. here goes.
This movie brings back so much childhood memories, I would always watch this movie! Wish I still had it, even though it was a Video (VHS) back then...
This was one of my favorite movie's when I was a kid, never watched it in so long.Thank you so much for uploading it(^_^)

When I was a kid I thought this was amazing. Now that I’m a parent I would have kicked her butt for running around like an idiot and trying to fall Inlove when she’s just a child! Amazing how things change as adulthood approaches.
