For the toy you got for Felix, it is supposed to be standing upright. Cats like to be high up, and those compartments are for him to jump into at different levels of height. It's also a vertical scratching post too. I'm sure he'd like it more this way :)

A similar thing happened to my mom and my brother. They were walking around the neighborhood when this dog came and started following them. That dog was a sweet dog and did not harm them, but then this other dog came from out of nowhere and attacked the other dog, so my mom and my brother started running away.Thankfully they were not hurt and neither was the sweet dog, but that had to be terrifying. Another incident with a dog was when I was running away from this Jack Russell when I was 9, but the owner of the dog and his friend were laughing and telling it to bite me while I was crying and I kept telling them to stop, but they kept chasing me and so did he dog. That dog was terrifying

Seriously, feed Felix less, this can be dangerous for cats as if they are overweight, they can have problems with their respiratory system and/or their digestive system as well as being more susceptible to hernias when climbing due to the weight and lack of muscle. Also they key to doing this is to let him go outside and don't make him an indoor cat. Cat's just simply should not stay inside all the time, yes it is nice and warm. But Felix won't grow a good immune system and eventually get too bored and become a lazy cat then get fat etc... In some instances this may not happen because the cat is on a healthy diet. If you want to feed your cat whatever, you NEED TO allow him to get some exercise outdoors and no, he won't get lost as they can sense the smells of you and the house, so he will happily come back after 2 hours exploring and exercising.
