Haha, back in the 80's, I was on my stock 12 sec bike, and in time trials would go against a 9sec dragster with a 2 speed trans, I'd get so far out on him off the line, just before the thousand ft Mark I could hear him coming up on me, then fly by me like I was standing still and fly thru the traps. His top end speed always amazed me.

What gives with all those people on the starting line? That's getting to be like the normal. Back in the day we couldn't even stand in the staging Lanes. I've been the Milan Dragway it night it all those people are in the staging lanes and radon the starting line with a pint of whiskey in their back pocket. I think NHRA should take a stance on that. If that dude driving at race car had that thing in Reverse he would kill 50 people. It's so goddamn ridiculous and stupid.

This is not yours or your fathers Drag Racing, I far prefer people on the starting line at the track than on the starting line on the street. Besides the closing of tracks the single biggest thing that has killed drag racing is this high and mighty thinking that we can’t let fans or crew members maybe any given time because of the Chicken Little “The Sky is Falling” way of thinking. I quite drag racing for many years because I got tired of some little Napoleon telling me where I could stand, park, or pee at the track and I was a owner/driver and it was worse for “my crew.” I could understand it a full field national event but parking me out in lower but scratch however when the National events or Divisional events are dam near empty and I could park on the pavement and not in the dirt or my crew members could not park in the pit side parking I got tired of the Bull Manure. I am not into street racing for any number of reasons. In short the NHRA and Chicken Littles of the world need to change otherwise there will be no NHRA drag racing. Just look at the pro categories it a joke and the racing sucks compared to the average well promoted no prep event. Look how many people and cars come to MIR for import vs domestic and how good the racing is. Wake up NHRA SS (Safety Sallies) if you girdle a tree it dies and. The NHRA has been doing that for decades and it is showing. It is time common sense returns to drag racing uses some of the starting line RD can be a bit much but on the other hand so is the NHRA heavy handedness in Horta middle ground needs to be found to rekindle the sport.

I don't see why anyone wastes their time, building drag cars out of fox body Mustangs.
Ford has never had any luck with their big block engines, they can't take high rpm. And the blue oval made some of the most dangerous cars on the road. The Pinto, Mustang II and the Explorer were all firebombs.. I've seen several Mustang II's break completely into two pieces. The Explorer is known as the Exploder, because it's prone to burst into flames.

This is a great video! When you smash your oil pan, or wreck your car, don't turn it off and just keep going down the track. That way you can spread your misery all over the place for every one else to clean up. For cars you see here that are professionally fast, I hope I don't line up next to any of you that can't figure out the sarcasm above. And also, like the vette at 4:50, when heading for the wall, lock up your brakes to ensure you hit that wall. And, one more bit of advice, if you get out of it, always get back into it to increase your chances of wreaking....I mean winning.

@@MrCarnutbill67 back in my day, the 1950s,1960s and 1970s, we raced with whatever we had which was usually the only car we had. I had a 55 Chevy 283, Duntov, Rochester 4 bbl and twin exhaust with Lake pipes. Traction master bars. Street tires and gears. We couldn't just rev it up on the line and dump the clutch. That would result in traction going up in smoke. To Get the best you could do off the line, you had to finesse the clutch and the gas pedal. Shifting gears on the three on the column required coaxing it into the next gear. Too ham-fisted and the linkage would jam into a wad. ETs were nothing like now. If you had a car that would get into the 14s you were running strong. The best I ever did was 14 flat. Racing back then was a barrel of fun. Starting with a flag. No such thing as " breaking out."
