It is so moving to see indigenous nations meeting each other through this epic voyage in an era where more and more indigenous tribes are pushed by forces out of their land, their culture, their very existence and identity into oblivion. This vovage is like a large cry of solitary of strength and hope for the younger generation to claim their rightful and much needed place into the future. I am moved.

Indeed! People often dont believe me when I tell them that more Hawaiians live on the mainland than in Hawaii!

I keep finding beautiful stories about the cultural revival. That is indeed wonderful. Brought tears to my eyes. Still, I want to hear more about the science. This seems like a great example of ancient tools enabling the same science as modern tools. Like people who relearn ancient construction engineering techniques. The crew's ability to read the ocean fascinates me. If that amazing skill is a revival, I can only imagine what has been lost. How much can we learn about how marine animals navigate from watching how humans do it?
