I disagree about finding a game. Where I live at least, GW is the only game in town. There are no other local places to play anything. I'm not exactly rural either. The next town over has some FLGS and clubs, but last time I was there they were limited in what they played. The question about tables. The local GW has about 3-6 (the place has closed down and re-opened a bunch). But they're basically half-sized tables. 2x2, maybe 3x3 I've not measured, and due to the layout of the building, playing a full board would be wider than it is long. Why clubs work in the UK. I think it's a matter of space. I'm kinda jealous when US UA-camrs go to their "basement" or "garage" or "man cave" and they have a huge 10x10 space (or more) to do whatever they want with. This combines with the previous point, where a kitchen table or a even a coffee table is the only gaming space available. This is why I was interested in those "tiny 40k" videos that shrink heroic scale to 10-15mm scale. On not using d6s. I had a similar idea of just using d8s with no modifications and see how that goes. I've never got to play vanilla OPR, so it would have to be someone else. But I wondered if the higher hit rate on attacks would be countered by higher saves. I like your d12 idea though. Maybe that could be a future battle report?
Valid points. I remember from the time I spent in different countries in Europe, that houses just weren't as big and so you're right - it's not a common to have a room to fully dedicate to gaming.
Excellent podcast. I really enjoyed listening while basing some VU Zombies. Thanks.
Great chat. Keep up the good work.
