The name of this song is "Liebestraum" a classical tune written by Franz Liszt originally a waltz but made to swing - something Bob Wills did with his 1940 Texas Playboys band as did Tommy Dorsey and other band leaders of the Big Band & Swing era. Gimble played this in the late 1949 version of the Texas Playboys along with Herb Remington & Eldon Shamblin, Tommy Perkins etc as well as a HUGE fiddle ensemble made up of Bob Wills. Keith Coleman, Bob White, Tiny Moore + Gimble and sometimes joined by Bob's father Uncle John Wills. That band didn't cut the song commercially but a couple of airshots of the band playing the song on the radio via live remote broadcasts from The Trianon Ballroom in Oklahoma City over KBYE and the Bob Wills Ranch House in Dallas over WFAA sponsored by either Jergen's Lotion and / or Thermoil. This is a great version! Thanks!!
The Fender Stratocaster was basically created around Eldon Shamblin's playing. Leo Fender loved Western Swing and worked with Eldon on a solid body guitar that would fit in the mix of a swing band. Eldon was one of the first to use it. The rest was history
Nothing makes you feel good like good ole Texas Swing.
Love this music and their stories.
That's just so beautiful!
Nothing less than wonderful 😍
I missJohnny Gimble❤

Thanks for the info.
I thought it sounded familiar!
And Bob Boatright on the twin fiddle. He was a master fiddler! I know his brother, Johnny, very well.
So cool

I never knew that!
Dick Gimble on the Upright Bass, Curly Hollingsworth on piano, Eldon Shamblin guitar, Herb Remmington steel guitar, & Leon Rausch
This IS a great sounding group.
Long gone. The music lives on though.
