I have a lot of mixed feeling around Battleground Blitz. A lot of good points here man. Looking forward to seeing some more PVP based content, this is super refreshing.
Thanks! I will be creating a lot of content focusing on Blitz guides for each BG, as well as loads of guides to allow players to understand their class/spec/roles within BG's. Keep your eyes peeled as the next one will be some basics for Arathi Basin and Eye of the Storm!
What I think will end up helping Blitz in preventing queue syncing/manipulation is that faction boundaries are removed. It's very possible for queue syncers to end up on separate teams and having it work against them. Regarding leaver penalties, it seems to be that 200 CR & MMR is lost on leaving the Blitz game, which is pretty fair since at higher ratings it'll tank you down an entire skill bracket, and with only gaining 12 to 20 CR a win, it'll take someone a significantly longer time to make up for that left game.
My larger concern is going to be for intentional gamethrowing such as intentionally not doing objectives (maliciously) or by running their character into a corner of the map so that they still lose the game but don't take the leaver hit. I think Blizz is going to have to find some form of solution for that.
A lot of people have been berating the gamemode saying that people just don't do objectives and that it's an awful game mode, but I think around a month or two into Season 1 of The War Within - with guides and content coming out about the mode and teaching people how to get better - we'll see people get placed into their respective skill brackets and gameplay become more objective focused across the board. The majority of people playing the mode now haven't historically been RBG players, so they'll have some hurdles to get over while they're still learning.
Regardless though, I'm excited for this mode to go rated and I'm happy that it's unlocking a new segment within the PvP community - both for content sake and for new players alike! Great video!
Right there with you on the the intentional game sabotage! We, as players of these need to try remain vigilant to report any of this activity (or inactivity). Hopefully people who receive reports in games and get removed also acquire these penalties.
I too, believe that after a few weeks, MMR will adjust accordingly and it will settle. The challenge will be overcoming the initial frustrations that may arise from experienced players being in the same brackets of newer players to Rated content.
But as mentioned, its down to the content that gets released and the willingness to learn that will help new players to understand their roles for classes / specs in rated BG's.

Haven't really tried pvp but watching your videos is making me want to try it out, any classes you would recommend for a new pvper?
Hey, glad that’s really good to hear! Picking a sole class for PvP is a tricky one as I have played all classes over the years and can rarely stick to one haha.
I think it really depends on the role you want to play. Do you prefer to heal and be a key player in PvP or do you prefer the melee dps that’s in the middle of the fight?
Ultimately, if you’re fairly new to WoW and not just PvP - I would suggest playing what you enjoy the most. Sometimes that takes a little trial and error, but also gives insight into other classes which has the bonus of giving the knowledge of their abilities when you face off against them.
We run a small community which has a link on the channel page. It will give a code to then use in game to automatically join it. You would be more than welcome to join that and even come along to some of our random BGs where we can help you dip your toe in.
I will be making a few other videos on different specs for PvP. Is there anything you would like to see class / spec wise?
I'd like to add that the changes to solo queue leavers being unable to re-queue on other characters is a step in the right direction and should be applied to all solo played rated PvP, they could even give it to M+ runners, but in that setting it could be abused.
Definitely a step in the right direction with this change. Unsure where I heard / read this also, but I believe that repeat leavers will also have an increased time out penalty. Which if correct, another step in the right direction.
