Immensely beautiful motet. The more years pass, the more I appreciate the second movement. Undescribably beautiful!

Indeed -- the first and last movements are joyous and fun, but it's in the adagio that the beauty of loving God truly reaches hearts, I think. I've been working on this motet over the last month and being reminded every time I sing the "Tu virginum'" how much I love it! The text is absolutely gorgeous, too, addressed to Our Lord, "Thou Crown of Virgins, do Thou grant us peace; console the affection that makes our hearts sigh."

I was principal 2nd violinist in the Camerata when the Hinreiner/Fuchs performance was recorded. I do not believe this is our recording. That recording was made in Salzburg in the 60's. G. Fuchs was a classmate.

It would be to know the details. Nice performance. Her singing is natural and flowing.

Who sings this? I'd love to know to see if she made any other recordings.

This is performed by New Zealand soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. She's made nearly 1,000 recordings, and she's still alive! She's one of the most famous sopranos of the 21st century, and is considered by many as one of the best in history. She excelled in works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, George Frederic Handel and Richard Strauss.

And this is eternal life: that they may know the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17:3 So those who gladly received his word were baptized; and on that day nearly three thousand souls were added. Acts 2:41
Atos 2:41
