@@toneslayer9781 it was pretty normal ... the older guys from around the way would always tell me that they respect him and tell me how it was a good fight and how he really won the fight And sometimes if someone really knew boxing they will know who he is so I liked that.
Just recently saw the news that Doug Jones passed away last month so I had to make a video of him. He fought many of the best boxers of his era and even gave Muhammad Ali a good fight. www.patreon.com/haNZAgod
This man is a prime example of a fighter who did not become champ simply because nobody wanted to fight him .He was avoided by the top fighters .He was a tough fighter.
I think the most interesting boxer of his era. He was relentless, charging ahead, always moving. Would have loved to see him fight Archie Moore or Floyd Patterson.
Ali said in a interview prior to the Doug Jones fight while hoping to get a shot at the heavyweight title owned by Sonny Liston, word by word I'm not worried about Doug Jones,Doug Jones is nothing but a bum,if Doug Jones beats me I will retire!!IT'S that big ugly bear I want referring to SONNY LISTONand I think he's afraid of me......of course it was all said to try to promote a fight I'm sure Ali knew that JONES was not a bum,but a top contender. May they both R.I.P.
gave up 20 lbs to young Ali and won like 80% of the newspaper decisions. He would've been perfect at early cruiserweight (with the 190 lb limit) because that's about were he fought at heavyweight. Awesome counterpuncher though.
Keevon Jones I'd say a hard fought win for Marciano. He has a slight edge over Jones in everything except workrate were he has a much larger advantage. Jones biggest win was against 195lb Zora folley and it was going follys way until his flimsy jaw failed him and Doug pulled the upset. I think Ezzard Charles and jersey Joe were still good wins at heavyweight or at least better than any of Jones other wins against heavyweights.

In what way do you mean? If you mean he gave away the latter half of the fight then I agree but if you mean that the fight was fixed then obviously that's wrong.
I love Muhammad Ali I got a shirt when he died but if you know anything about boxing look at the fight closely I felt that he won the first fight politics beat him
Doug Jones's grandson here.... I love this... I miss him everyday.... Thank you for making this tribute..
He was really your grandfather??!!!
As a kid he was my favorite, his fight against Zora Foley was amazing!
@@rizeone865 just now seeing this but yes!
@@Unorthadox72 What's it like being his grandson? Do you box yourself?

Yes.. beacuse he knew when to leave the game and we took care of him.
Chuvalo, Bonavena, Liston, Foster

Godfather of Harlem brought me here
Reminds me of Sonny liston
And Bob Satterfield
Ropes held Ali up on his feet!
Oh hell yes
Outstanding.
Sonny Liston Jr
Doug had a better right hand than Liston and he threw more punches
Surprising rural interpret employ reception hard daily like about ball abstract.
what a beast!
Wow. Jones could really hit for a guy less than 190 pounds.
At 0:35 is that Harold Johnson?
Yeah

@@romanlarribas1696 If it's not on UA-cam then it's been taken down because that's where I got it from
That's unfortunate but at least I know it exists. Hopefully it will pop back up eventually.
Or was that Cleveland Williams
fights like mike tyson imo
Relentless would be more appropriate than devastating, but great video, though.
But I wouldn't necessarily describe him as a relentless pressure fighter though so I thought devastating aggression was more apt.
Or maybe Ruthless.
He threw the Ali fight

Agreed.
he was a good one. fought at 188 and used to give them all a helluva fight.

RIP. Still think he beat Ali.
