The user can (a) change the URL string to get more access (b) there is a small icon on the right bottom corner which may allow more access if they have the access rights already. It's not fool proof, it definitely requires testing to see if it works for your scenario
What are the best practices while sharing a file which has data fetched from one drive folders? Should the link to the folder be copied from web or is local cache folder path enough. Would it work for shared users? If link has to be used, where should the link be copied from? TIA

Hi, if there is a set of different Excel files and there are data transformation steps applied to each of them them individually and then all the files are further connected with steps like merge, combine and group. Now there is an update in one/all Excel files in terms of data (columns remains same)and it is not possible to update each and every column value, in this case how toreplace the original Excel file/files (keeping the same file name) so that the all the steps can/will be applied as it is after file replacement on the new file and the outcome will be based new files

Which elements are you using Power Query for? Presumably it is just getting data into the report? Excel Online doesn't support that particularly well at the moment. But you can set up a scheduled PQ refresh in a desktop file (using Task Scheduler) provided the file is saved OneDrive/SharePoint and synced to desktop.
Generally Yes. When somebody opens the report it will get a new read-only version of the data. However, I'm not sure what happens if somebody is viewing the dashboard at the same time as the update occurs. I'm guessing it won't, but I've not tried it.
Some authentication is required. I don't believe OneDrive / SharePoint allow Excel connections for anybody with the link, so it's restricted to inside the organization. (Don't hold me to that).

But when you click on the "View full-size workbook" at the bottom right of the page, the original file will open .
Yes, unfortunately, every work around has it's limitations.
this was my problem too iwonder what what we can do to limit them from opening the file
