I give my friends a call, send cards to ones sick or depressed, do volunteer work, read a book, watch a good movie, take a leisurely drive, things like that.

My life lift is the time I spend caring for my Grandson. I get to watch him on Tuesday and Thursday and I love it so! He is almost three and so funny. I just love making sure he knows how much Grammie loves him!

great video this morning. I have realized lately that I need to focus on a way to contribute to others. that's what makes me feel that I'm spending my life in a way that's meaningful. I will seek out volunteer work this week. even just a few hours a week will be my "life lift." thanks Margaret.

you are so encouraging, your sweet smile, your kind nature sparkles through your eyes and you lifted me up today ! Yesterday was a difficult day ( I didn't share that with anyone but my daughter ) but I ended it on a good note so all is well. I had a house full of guests for Mother's Day lunch ,I was a little tearful in the morning before church but I put on a pretty dress, nice jewelry, a smile and continued on...smile...the mrs.bigjacdaddy

Mine is going to the gym 5 to 7 days a week. Planet Fitness charges a reasonable $10.00 a month. I stopped wearing headphones at the gym. Today I had a wonderful conversation with the gentleman walking on the treadmill next to me. People say hello and many want to carry on a conversation now.

I find writing down at least 10 things I am grateful for every day is a “life lift”.

My Mother passed away on Sunday morning, she was 95. I'm so grateful for having her in my life for all these years, she was an amazing Lady. I take inspiration from her. I will miss her. Thank you Mum. Maureen NZ x

Hello Maureen, how very sad and poignant to lose her on Mother's Day. It's true you were very lucky to have had her in your life for so many years, but it's still a shift in your world and your reality and I hope you are ok. We are here as friends if you need any support. xx

Dear Maureen: How fortunate to have a loving mother that inspired you. Your gratitude for her years spent with you tells volumes of your relationship. My mother is 85...and due to her choice of absence in my youth, I remain prayerful that she learns to 'love', as I strive to help her make the centenarian mark. I am so grateful you have loving memories, and I will keep you and your Mum in prayer.

Thank you Margaret for all that you do with and for 60 and me.
I've not seen a comment on your videos that concern a decoration behind you. (Maybe I haven't read as many as I should. ) To your left, beside the sofa behind you, is a little table covered in material of bright flowers. The cover changes at times but it's the arrangement on top that I've become watchful for. Sometimes a colourful bouquet of fresh flowers, dried arrangements of slender branches or black roses stand proudly on that table wanting to be noticed. It makes me think about the thought processes of how that came to be. I imagine it's a simple idea about what you love in your life. I also thought about how on one hand there is routine in changing it to keep it fresh but on the other, how it catches you for a moment and brings an instant smile. We become used to and stop seeing furnishings that initially sparked enthusiasm. Routinely changing an item that brings in beauty recharges the enjoyment in a room that is already loved or even in a room considered dull. My beauty routine has never been much but I am working on my routine of beauty. (I sounded a bit serious and preachy there, sorry.)
Please share your thoughts about your table and the beautiful arrangements on it. Do you buy flowers every other week, do you have a secret admirer (we won't tell) or do you skip through the neighbourhood with a pair of secateurs? 💐 💕🦉🇦🇺

Hi Narelle, what a sweet and thoughtful message. My table. Well as you may know i live in a one room apartment. It is part of my downsizing exercise and also my financial choice. I'd rather spend money on travel! :-) I always loved buying accessories for my home but now in a small space i have one table that i can transform. I buy flowers at the market, twigs in the forest, bowls from the recycling shop. I don't pick wildflowers although there is a lilac tree near by in the spring that i have to physically stop myself from attacking :-) So my table is a place to change the color, texture and scent of my environment and i am very grateful you noticed. It does recharge my enjoyment in my life and this little space that i call home. Thank you Narelle. I will remember you the next time i place a new bunch of flowers :-)

Sixty and Me Margaret thank you so much for answering. It's a lovely thing you do with the arrangement including recycling as part of the joy. I am so touched that you will think of me the next time you redo the floral arrangement. You have such an air of vibrancy around you. I am reminded of That Girl. You don't need to throw your beret. 😉 I hope that you can share a picture of the lilac tree when it's in full bloom, before giving in to the need to attack it. Afterwards is just evidence 😁. 🌺💕🦉🇦🇺

Vision boards are wonderful. I encourage my clients to do this. I mysteriously ended up living on the Atlantic Ocean after I had put"live on water" on my goal board in my 30's! Daily walks definitely! Thanks Margaret. Pretty in pink today:)

One thing I have found that will give me a “life lift” when I feel a little overwhelmed by things is to be creative. I dig out a small craft, sewing or painting project and spend a little bit of time on it. It seems to relax me and allows me to lighten my spirit so that I feel up to tackling the big things. I am also a nurturer so I tend to find myself volunteering to take care of grandkids or doing small errands or deeds for my family such as picking up a room or perhaps washing up a few dishes, fold some laundry etc. at one of my children’s homes if I happen to stop by when they are at work or gone. It’s a nice surprise for them and I feel good giving them that small gift as I think how nice it would have been for me to have that happen when they were young and I was struggling to keep house and work and family balanced.

Wonderful video..all good thoughts! I do quite a few..grandchildren and great grand children...telling stories, coloring pictures with them ,walking with them, going to church with them. I have conversations with my school friends of 50 yesrs, which is precious as we live in a small community together..some have just lost their loved ones...so we are much needed. I always enjoy your videos..thought provoking.

    Wonderful advice, ty!
    "Being grateful costs you nothing."
    So true!!
One of my favorite life lifts is laughter! Whether I'm swapping humorous tales w/ my 'ole hippie friends, watching or reading a good comedy or just being goofy & silly by myself, (Yes, I do that! Lol!) I really do believe that laughter is one of the BEST medicines.
'A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.' ~ Proverbs 17:12
