    I can't thank you guys enough for this video. As an 18 year old I didn't feel like paying a shop 1500 bucks to do my clutch so I got down in my garage and am doing it myself. It's a 335xi and it's not easy but I'm just a few bolts away from getting the bell housing off. Pain in the ass getting the shifter out with a transfer case in the way but I'll figure it out I hope. Thanks again

    Love this video!!! The car noises when you pulled off the shifter knob was hilarious. And the background applause when you got the trans off. Loved it all. THANK YOU FOR NOT PUTTING ANY RAP MUSIC IN THE BACKGROUND!!!!!!! This video was informing, funny and very entertaining. I would love to know what those jacks on the side of the car were, and where did you get them???? Good to have friends who are willing to get down there with you and help. I bought my 335i with a spec stage 3+ clutch already in it, and already FBO down. But I'm watching as much content as possible to learn as much about my new car as I can, as there will be a time when I'm going to need to know. So thanks for making content to help all of the N54 gang...

    Really nice. Was helpful for me. Did the job a few days ago. Horrible :D. Just a comment: Do not grease the shaft for the release bearing even with special grease. I had a call with SACHS because I just read it in the newtis instruction. The inner bearing is made of plastic and it could be that the grease (together with the clutch dust) is creating a non slippery surface and the shifting becomes difficult after a while. Just clean it and that's it.
    Just in case metal is sliding on metal it's necessary to grease with special grease.

    17:32 Although the entire walk through is a greate reference, and know what to look out for or expect. Be careful on this part as it does not apply to all cars that carry the N54. Some N54 cars the diamon which is the "high side" belong on the outside. So before you change your TOB, check to see first how it is installed before installing the new one. You will notice one side is larger than other for high or low. All N54 cars do not use the same transmission.

    One of your more technically tight videos, EXCELLENTLY done. Questions: Did you really need to pull both down pipes? Did you really need to yank the shifter? Almost forgot, how marked is the improvement in the lighter fly-wheel? Did it impact the (otherwise) smooth idle for example?

  • @alvarohaesbaert
    @alvarohaesbaert 6 років тому +1

    Hey guys, Im making 570whp/510wtq on my 335i. I installed the Factory SMFW along with the 335is clutch when I bought the car, didn't think I would be making this much power with the car lol needless to say the 335is clutch is not holding up. You said Spec 3 clutch, and its springless plate. Why did you go with this set up? How is it holding up and how is the drivability? Thanks!

    • @BudgetBimmers
      @BudgetBimmers  6 років тому

      Alvaro Haesbaert Id probably rather it was a spring plate but it came springless. As for driveability it’s not as bad as you’d think, a little bit of studder taking off at lower rpm but not too bad. I wanted to make sure it could handle the power I plan on putting down

      @@dhankins2012 we're did a few things.. doing more than one thing.. unfortunately I can't tell the exact fix.. but I think initially we jammed the pivot pin to far.. so I ordered another stainless steel one that fits the 8 series.. then we switched the throw out bearing to the high setting. The car drives. It engages.. the release point is somewhere around 80% back up on the clutch after coming back up... The clutch holds the power so far. I'm running fbo flex fuel and pure 600. I'm Happy the car runs but I do not like the clutch and spec just blames the install and not the product

    • @dhankins2012
      @dhankins2012 4 роки тому

      j mp so I installed the stage 3 kit with the 6puck and lightweight flywheel. Wouldn’t engage while running. Dropped the trans again and put the stage 2 ceramic disc in (luckily I had a back up plan if one didn’t work). But the disc fits with the stage 3 LWFW and pressure plate. I’m 1000 miles after the install and it seems to be handling it fine

    I was checking and apparently you need this specific $500 alignment tool besides the one that comes with the clutch kit.... I see you guys didn't use it. You guys have any issues? Know about that tool?

      Bilal that’s most likely not true, the one that came with the clutch works fine

    do you by any chance know if that single mass will cause shatter noise?

    • @BudgetBimmers
      @BudgetBimmers  7 років тому +1

      Erick Gomez yes it does have some chatter at idle now, we may raise the idle to try and make it quieter.

      Budget Bimmers thanks for the reply, I want to go single mass but hate the chatter sound. Last question is the noise bearable at all?

      I have a Spec clutch and Spec sluminum SMFW on my MMP stg3 N54 e90 XI and it does chatter at idle. If you don't like the chatter, raise the idle as stated above or just hold the clutch in (noise goes away completely) at red lights.
