Personally, as a Swede, I find the burnings vulgar. But they hinge on the fact that Muslim's are the only Religious group who have individuals who react with anger and violence. We have freedom of speech and expression that allow us to criticise religion because politics and religion is separated in Sweden and that's something these people do not understand. That's just it, no books are "holy" in Sweden, we abolished blasphemy laws long ago. We want to be a society were anyone can express their views (i.e. Freedom of Speech and Expression) and that includes burning any book, as long as it is safe and not risk the fire spreading. Why are countries, that usually do not like if Sweden criticize their laws that break human rights and democracy, think it is OK to force their laws upon Sweden and demand law changes? That is pure hypocrisy in my book. BTW, in Sweden we have a separation of government and authorities. The government or politician's can't tell the police authority or the courts what to do. Jesus would never be happy to see the Quran burned or innocent people killed. He taught us to love our neighbor as ourselves and to turn the other cheek when faced with injustice. He showed us how to forgive those who mistreat us, instead of retaliating in kind. He encouraged us to treat people with respect and kindness, regardless of their beliefs or backgrounds. He demonstrated the power of kindness and compassion, even in the most trying of situations. He was a leader for those who were suffering and a role model for how to live a compassionate life. BTW, in Sweden we have a separation of government and authorities. The government or politician's can't tell the police authority or the courts what to do. The authorities are to follow Swedish laws, and Swedish police did not do that when they stopped this man's protest against Islam, by burning a Quran, in February and the Swedish courts told the police they didn't interpret the law correctly, so now they allowed it yesterday. So trying to appeal to our government is ridiculous.

What's your uprise all about? You call the Quran a 'holy book' - why? Not a single word was written by God/Allah himself, neither by Mohammad. Everything was written down by ordinary people, so it's an ordinary book, printed by the thousands.
IMHO no matter which religion - if jewish, if christian or islamic, it's all about gaining power and establish it worldwide. Telling them, what to do and what not - and giving at least 10% of their earnings to the church, rsp. their representatives. None of those has a better access to God/Allah than every other person on this planet - it's all lies.
BTW: Sweden is a liberal democracy, so no government can prohibit actions that are not illegal - the protesters don't need a permit. I think, the permit refers to the place of protest directly in front of a mosque, which is an area with restrictions.
