Scrap process in SAP S4 HANA
Scrap is material that does not conform to quality standards and is not reworked. You can plan the scrap that is expected to be produced in the Logistics master data (in %). Material requirements can be increased or reduced depending on the amount of scrap.
Assembly scrap
- maintain in MRP1 view od the material master.
- Increases the requirements of components
- Increases the requirement of a component or all components of an assembly, and thus increases the material costs.
Component scrap
- maintain in MRP4 or in BOM
- Increases the requirements of specific components
Operation scrap
- maintain in BOM or Routing with net indicator
- Reduces the quantity of subsequent operations
- Reduces the quantity of subsequent operations and thus reduces production costs.

Great explanation. but One question: You said that control cost is sum of actual cost , WIP, and Scrap in the video
In my mind, it is that Control cost = actual cost - WIP- scrap , did I get misunderstanding for this topic ?

Is there a way to exempt the activity from the scrap percentage calculation. We have fixed man hours on quantity based

This is a GREAT video! I have tried several of the scrap parameter inputs and cant quite get to the one I want. For example, we use glue on a product. The BOM calls for 1 gram of glue per piece. Due to purging the lines, drip, wiping of the applicator tip, etc. we use about 50% extra. Therefore, for each piece made I would like to consume 1.5 grams in SAP instead of the 1 gram the BOM calls for. Where should I put that extra .5 grams or 50%? Thank you in advance for your support.

Hi, in your case it should be the BOM QTY not the scrap quantity.
