  • In the age of jet engines, nuclear power, and psychedelic rock, a quaint little rail operation remained untouched. It was a peek back into the pre depression era. It had survived the scrapper's torches of the 1950s due to it's unique narrow gauge factor. Tensions in Vietnam were at their highest point with marches and protests consuming the country and yet, the Rio Grande was still thundering along carrying out the promises it made in the 1880s, using the very same equipment from the 1920s. It would continue to operate until August 29th, 1968 and is regarded as one of the longest lasting steam locomotive operations in the USA.
    The clips in this video show 2 climbs up Cumbres pass in August of 1967, and a view of a light engine run down the pass from some time in 1966.
    Music:
    Sam The Sham & The Pharaohs - Wooly Bully and Memphis Beat
    Booker T. & the M.G.'s - Green Onions

    You really did these models justice. They were never perfect but it's awesome you figured it out. Well done.

      Once I found out Togog had fixed the dimensions of his 36 and 37s I knew I'd have to switch from prowler eventually lol. I did a quick reskin one day to see and sure enough Togog's are an improvement. I still use prowlers drivers with them tho

      @@ArkansasLocomotiveWorks Used to be that his K-36 had a K-37 boiler and vice versa, causing them to look all out of wack, but in his recent update of them he fixed that so now they're actually correct

    It’s great to see that you’re uploading once more. Even with a new version of Trainz I might add. Not to mention the route seems to have numerous improvements compared to your previous uploads so far. Keep it up!

    Very nice indeed, excellent route. I began a version myself many years ago until trainz had a major corruption and scattered thousands of ground covers all over the route that refused to be deleted in a bulk replace, I gave up after that fiasco as i figured that someone else would make a good version of the route and i went to to create the Uintah Railway instead . It was nice to see all the areas that I was working on in your version, I'd be interested to see how you dealt with the more complex rock formations as I never got round to doing many of those , some would be pretty tricky to get right.

      thanks! The route was originally created by a user named Virginian, I've slowly been doing my own mods to it over the years and now there's pretty much nothing left from the original, plus I backdated my version of it to the 60s

      Thank you! This route is currently not available, if I ever get around to finishing it and get permission from the author there is a chance it could see the public, but it's more something I work on every now and then

    where are the boxcars, flatcars, gondolas, etc. from?

    • @Mas4449
      @Mas4449  10 місяців тому

      All of the rolling stock you see is by Togog on the DLS, however I did custom reskins for the boxcars and gondolas. The pipe gons and caboose are private models that I did reskins on and the class 23 flatcar is from prowlers old website

      The k-36 is on the DLS by Togog, the ones you see in this video are reskins I did though

  • @CrisGerSan
    @CrisGerSan 10 місяців тому

    The scenery is well done. I see that as an improvement in Trainz but there are a number of errors in the rolling stock that make it painful to watch. And I was alive and a young teen in the 60s and we did NOT listen to that music you used. Please be more accurate in such things. i had to turn it off due to the noise of that stuff.

    • @Mas4449
      @Mas4449  10 місяців тому

      If you don’t mind could you point out some errors with the rolling stock? Also I figured Hendrix, Cream, Jefferson Airplane, Doors etc etc didn’t fit as well as some of the mid 60s stuff I used. That Sam the Sham record was released in 65 which was prime time for this video. You can always mute it and put on your own soundtrack.
