Mount Etna Erupts February 2021

- Опубліковано 16 лис 2024
- Mount Etna, Europe's most active and tallest volcano has been blowing from different "mouths" for three days in February of 2021. The scenes from the highway and the towns around Mount Etna show the magnitude of the eruption which was accompanied by lava fountains that reached heights of up to 700 m and spewing emission of ash, which rose to 9.1 km above sea level. Flights in and out of Catania Airport were halted for a few hours. No deaths were reported and no major damage, except to crops.

Awesome and beautiful!
Thank you very much!
Wow! Mama Etna sure is showing her power!!! Praying for the continued safety of everyone!
I've always wanted to visit this jewel. The architecture, the art, the people, the sea, the food, and most of all... Mama Etna.
We have many more videos on Sicilian history, culture , history and much more on this channel!
@@EszterVajda Thank you Eszter. I just subscribed! Greetings from Portland, Oregon! 👋
Although I made it to Italy, I missed out on Sicily but did get to go to Pompeii and walk the streets where so many died. It was a rather eerie experience walking through the town and the homes still standing.
I've been watching the eruptions live over the last week. Although such a beautiful sight to behold, I do hope you all stay safe and keep those face masks on as to not breathe in all that ash. Being from Australia, I'm used to ash from Bushfires that fall on us. At the beginning of last year when we suffered catastrophic Bushfires, it was hard to breathe inside my home and face masks were being supplied by the government. The smoke blocked the sun which made it dark inside our homes on many days. I do hope you remain safe. Ciao from Victoria, Australia.🇦🇺
God bless you! We hope you are ok now ! Here in Sicily we are fine!
@@YouMeandSicily That's good to hear. I keep checking the live volcano feed to see what Etna is up to. Luckily, we've had a mild Summer this year and no major Bushfires in my vicinity for a change. We all have Mother Nature to tend with in many forms.
A part of the beauty and mystery that is our BEDDA SICILIA !!
She's beautiful. Mesmerizing to be sure! Hope whatever she's coughing up gets cleared out soon, and things calm for you guys. Much love from USA.
Amazing.
Beautiful pictures. I was there a few years ago, but it was cold and overcast and didn't get to see much, but did visit some of the smaller 'craters' on the side of Etna. Incredible landscape.
GOD BLESS 💥

Thank you Eszter, wonderful and scary images
Amazing eruption stay safe
Amazing, Mount Etna stay safe ❤️
I hope all turns out well for everyone in the area. Let’s just pray that it’s not followed by tremors or earthquakes.
WOW!!! FREE CAT LITTER! Where we're sweeping and scooping snow she's sweeping cat litter. I'd say lucky them but, living on the side of a volcano is hardly worth it.
It's incredible how dangerous something beautiful can be! Stay safe!
Oooh also in South America they are erupting! Stay safe 💖
Three at present in Guatemala.
Very well done, 1st person who has shown us the geography rather than just pretty pictures with no clue as to where things were happening!
Incredible! Embarrassed to say that we were complaining about a snow storm!
Just glad y'all are safe.
Grazie Mille !
Thanks for posting this video! Very professional reporting. Keep us up-to-date on the eruption.
Thank you! Will do!
Yes it's been in news here that Mt.Etna has been having more explosions. You told us that watch the live chats that mama Etna was having some. Be safe and TY for this update!
She is a natural phenomenon. Luckily, this doesn’t happen very ofyen. She just needed to digest a little bit! È la nostra bambolina, ma è sempre un vulcano 🌋.
Exactly!
Gracie Eszter! Sharing.
Wow ' stay safe ' Etna being so busy last couple of days
No kidding !
@@YouMeandSicily I must ask friend to post Etna photo from 15 months ago 'it erupted days later
Wow please stay safe!
Outstanding job 🔥💥🎉❤️‼️
Oh wow! Glad no one was hurt.
Good update. Nice picture dangerous but beautiful
Be safe!
So beautiful, so dangerous. This is the only drawback of living on a volcano.
At first I thought this was Martha Stewart sweeping the ash.
Me too. Wondering why is she reporting in Sicily. The
resemblance is spectacular.
We have many more videos from all over Sicily and about Sicily on this channel for you to enjoy!
I have a question
I want to know if it will blow its self up
@@edwardblack4674 no experts say the explosions are in a very remote and high altitude area. She is literally just 'belching' right now.
Great video
Beautiful, I’d love to be able to see her in action one day . Thanks Alfred and Eszter.

Excellent report! Thank you for sharing, you have a new sub. 😊
Would love to see her and visit Mama Etna, I'm not able to now though.
Praying for Sicily and all the people there and any other volcanoes that are erupting. 🙏💜 stay safe.

The good thing is, Etna releases energy every so often, better than building up to a huge eruption. Vesuvius will go one day because it's building.
Agree!
Vesuvius? Heh, not to scaremonger you, but you do know there's a far bigger monstrosity dormant below Napels right? And its slowly waking up again! The Campi Flegrei supervolcano on the western side of the city, underneath the harborplace of Piozzuoli. The surface has risen several meters over the course of the past decades. There are active fumaroles venting suphuric gasses, and increasing seismic(volcanic/magmatic) activity. It would be another 50-100 years, it could also start within a few days.
Much as experts can predict on volcanic eruptions, it remains a science that is still in its crib, despite the vast information discovered already.
To state it simple: The magmachamber(s) underneath Napels áre dormant, yet a simple crack in some basalt layer, leaking smaller quantities of eruptable magma, onto a mineral-rich composite, filled with sulphur, could cause an explosive reaction that'd even reach the surface, where the subterran masses would contact vast amounts of carbon and oxygen(y'know the most most reactive substances on the periodic table?) and create a húge eruption!
@@thegreenreaper6660 yes, that one too. It will certainly make the headlines!
Wow.
When I was in high school in the 1980s we were taught that all of the worlds volcanoes were extinct. I think somebody got that wrong.
I'd say somebody flat out lied to you.
How could anyone tell you something as incorrect as that? Look what just happened at White Island in New Zealand, Etna is showing her might and Guatemala has three erupting at present and that's just a few. Many Pacific Islands have active volcanoes and Indonesia is full of them. Your teacher should have been fired!
@@krisushi1 I don't know where he got his info from. I guess they teach a lot of things in school that they don't really know anything about.
@@HotelPapa100 I guess they thought that in the 1980s because there hadn't been any eruptions for years. There is quite a lot of volcanic activity at the moment. I imagine it must be scary living near an active volcano, and the air quality probably isn't that good either.
@@vickiwalsh5099 There has been volcanic activity of comparable level throughout the ages, ever since humans have started recording these things.
A volcano is considered extinct once it's been quiet for 10'000 years. Tells you something when such a statement can be true at all.
What has changed is our perception of these events. Everybody carries around a highly capable recording device, and any eruption near populated areas is posted on multiple channels within hours.
Any person who has a business instructing high schoolers about such things should have known better, even in the eighties.
And, speaking of the eighties: Mt St. Helens, the most widely communicated big volcanic eruption in recent years, blew its top on May 18, 1980. Your teacher must have been living under a rock.
Yes, my family is panic in sicily scusmy no spiking inglish
You did excellent! 😘 Stay safe, I am praying 🙏 for you all 💜
If it blowers it top you won’t have to worry about ash
Top blown in 1693. The side vents are very dangerous
How many will have severe lung problems now from breathing in all that ash?
Is there anybody like me wondering why these people aren’t getting away from there?
Not near residential area (I mentioned also in the video)
It's hard to get people to evacuate. Hopefully if there are significant signs, Hopefully they will
Where ever you go the earth is in a battle with the human kind, all around the world the Lord is taking back his planet, that de humanity had almost completely destroyed, before it's to late, the owner of his creations is shaking the world !
You can never stop mankind settling in dangerous areas. Just look at Indonesia. Each year the Tectonic plate that Australia is on moves northwards. You'd be surprised at how many volcanoes there are in Indonesia. The town's around Mt. Etna are safe at present as the activity is occurring very high up. Only if there are signs of more severe activity causing danger to citizens, would any evacuation request be given. Etna has been misbehaving for sometime now, she's probably just reminding Sicillians she's still awake.
They've learned to live with it as they have for hundreds of years. They call her Mama Etna just as the Hawaiian natives call kilauea Pele.
What makes the cloud go laterally instead of upwards? Is there an inner layer STOPPING it go up? The sky rises to be UP.
The weight of the ash and the winds!
the ashes, once cooled are a good fertilizer .
For sure !!! Farmers here credit Etna for the abundant produce !
Wow Mt Etna at it again very upsetting for people who live near by lot's of things going on in the world so sad
Thankfully no injuries !
@@YouMeandSicily yes thank goodness it's heartbreaking for all though lots of bad things going on at the moment with volcano's mother nature take care
Ciao Mrs. Eszter this show only in Sicily 😅☺️🌹❤️ spero mi capisca non parlo bene l'inglese 😜
What does Etna have to do to be dangerous?
Stronger explosion at lower altitudes!
Glad I’m in UK tbh
How are you all breathing??
It happened fast and far enough at high altitudes so it has not affect our air quality.
@@YouMeandSicily that’s good to hear!

Is this the beginning of the supervolcano?
No. Actually it is healthy for Etna to release pressure from side vents

Mount Etna isn’t a super volcano it’s a shield strato volcano
