Captain America has always been a lot of people’s favorite Avenger. His sense of justice and dedication to the fight against bullies has been an inspiration for the entire MCU. His character arc is great and we don’t want to take anything away from that, but we think it would be fun to imagine an exciting new “What If” scenario that sees Captain America becoming Thor.
How would something like this happen? Well the video today breaks down two different scenarios that could see Steve Rogers as Thor. The first takes us all the way back to the first Captain America movie, where some minor tweaks to the MCU’s timeline results in Captain America wielding Mjolnir in his first movie instead of fighting over the Tesseract. If something like this happened, what would the long lasting implications of such an event be? And how would it affect things in the first Avengers movie when Loki arrives on Earth looking to conquer it? The other scenario asks what if Captain America became Thor at the end of Endgame after his epic fight with Thanos. Instead of retiring to the suburbs with Peggy Carter and becoming Old Man Cap, would becoming the new Thor force Steve to become a more Galactic Avenger under Nick Fury’s S.W.O.R.D. operation?

Captain America took the super serum juice because he had no other choice, he wanted to serve his country and other nations. If we were to consider that the world would ask him to go and try to wield mjolnir, he would never do such a thing because unlike Red Skull, Captain America doesn't for greater power. Captain America would undoubtedly refuse the privilege of wielding Mjolnir. Even in Endgame, he did it because he had to save Thor and defeat Thanos because that's who Captain America is. Becoming an icon was never his doing, becoming a legend was never his doing, he did everything that he was known for because he's selfless, not selfish.

The only character that doesn’t lie anyways is Thanos. Thor and Steve both lie, or at least are not always truthful to themselves and others %100 of the time. Thanos is really the only character that doesn’t have that character flaw, at least that I’m aware of, but does that mean Thanos can wield Mjlnor? No.

Cap actually lifted the hammer in Age of Ultron. If you watch he scene, you'll see not just Thor getting tense, but Cap actually lets it go and adjusts his grip, and you can tell he's faking at that point.

As cool as it would be to see Cap as Thor 2.0, I would never change his ending in Endgame. I don't care want anyone says, this ending was amazing and it's one of the few endings that made me cry.

Matthew Gennell The ending of endgame was anticlimactic, the whole movie has a ton of issues, Infinity war was better developed and despite the awesome Thaptain America scene, Endgame is nonsensical. All of the characters personalities were so different, there should’ve been a middle movie to explain things without the condensed backstory hand waving of act 1 of Endgame.

One thing that i don't get is that how did Captain America get knocked out from an impact that did not destroy the ship? I mean this guy is durable enough to tank blows from Iron Man, Winter Soldier's bionic arm and Thanos and he is durable enough to jump really high from skyscrapers level but somehow that impact knocked him out? They should've had a more realistic death for Cap. In no way would he have died there.

Well isn't the one side plot of captain america in mcu is that he is a guy that is in a world that isn't his? yeah the dude can jump off a building to the ground but the thing is he is using the shield in that in the scene where the plane crashes did you see use the shield as a cushion??

If someone else has the power of thor , ot doesn't change thor. In fact the enchantment held the power of thor only, thor himself has his power, Odin power, the power of his grandfather etc etc. Thor evolved past just being thor when Odin died.
Captain America becoming one of the most powerful beings in the universe is great but it would take away his vulnerable factor and that's being a mortal. This is the same reason the Russos scrapped the idea of the soul stone taking the sentient form of Steve Rogers. Captain America isn't a god, Captain America is a mortal, yet his heart allows him to stand up and command respect from those greater than him, that's his power. Take that away from him, he'd just be another powerful dude whom the fictional world has an endless supply of.

I've read somewhere in the comics that the infinity stones can over time form its sentient form. As to why it would take Steve Rogers form, i'm not the writer, how would i know? Maybe Steve Rogers would've sacrificed himself for the soul stone and thereby, the soul stone would store his soul and deem it as the worthiest of souls and take his form.

Cap, by virtue of 'wanting' to be Thor, would become unworthy. he budged it in Ultron, but didn't lift it as it was an effort of vanity. Endgame was a matter of necessity. as a matter of will, it smacks of vanity.
Endgame was the last movie for Chris Evans but.... what IF it wasn't?
I have a theory:
Marvel could make a new character arc for other movies of Captain America cuz when Odin put the spell on the Mlnojr he said that whoever lifts the hammer and is worth it, they shall possess the power of Thor. So now Cap is actually very very powerful without the need to change the events of TFA completely.

Loki went out of the bifrost track before thor does. That means Loki did arrive at Sakaar long before Thor does. Because they travel at the speed of light or maybe more

No! The reason he couldn’t lift the hammer in Avengers Age of Ultron was because HE COULD. He knew he could but didn’t want to destroy Thor’s Ego. Plus keeping a secret doesn’t make you unworthy. In fact he probably kept it a secret to protect Bucky and tony.

Actually u can see clearly in age of ultron that cap did actually lift mjolnr, and then he let go. He tried not to be an icon, but he ended up becoming the best avenger of all, because he put others before himself.

Captain america was able to wield Mjolnir in Age of Ultron, You can't be Half-worthy, He nudged it a little bit [Moving mjolnir is impossible while not being worthy, or tricking to be worthy like Android] and which is why in endgame Thor says "I KNEW IT!" after Cap hits Thanos with Mye-myeh, He just decided to not ruin Thor's Ego.
Having the power of Thor is not the same as being Thor. Besides, Captain America would not want to be a god.

I grew up reading the Wolverine comics in the 90's and I could definitely see a story where Wolverine wields Mjolnir to save the world or something. Missed opportunity if you ask me, unless something like that did happen that I haven't heard of.
Captain America did gain Thor’s powers. In The first Thor, Odin puts an enchantment on the hammer saying that who can lift the hammer has Thor’s powers. He didn’t pick up the hammer because he would have ended up like Thor, on Asgard and stuff and he was putting Thor who was the current god of thunder first. He noticed he could lift it and then just acted like he couldn’t. You can’t do a half way thing with the hammer

No, Cap chose Peggy after his arrogance refused to sacrifice one Android over half of all life in the universe. Her screwed up big time. So he's done and went back to Peggy to make himself feel better, timeline be damned. Unless they use the quantum tunnel to de-age him like it did Scott when they were testing it before Tony showed up, I'm betting he is seeking to do that, after all he loves to fight to save people and act all heroic, so I'm sure he really misses that with his ego.

It is hard to believe that Captain America would retire and go back to the 40s. Even there in the 40s he probably would want to be a hero with any danger around him. We cannot imagine him not wanting to fight for justice. So this is a lot of fans problem with the Endgame script, not buying that story idea. But oh well.
