I enjoyed the create a mission in Tenchu 2. The best line in the game was when Rikimaru rushes in and kneels before his sensei and says “Test my strength, master. I’m ready to be a ninja.” 😂
Personally I don't play video games anymore I have him for a while but thank you for the video just the same. I do like how games try to be authentic as possible with the cultures
I have a Question... but should this game Implement Mythological elements? I have one of your books, the dark side of Japan and I realize the rituals and Magic were Quite important to the Japanese, I suppose what I mean is that do you think they should add these rituals to the game?
It depends on what you mean by mythological elements. If you mean by witnessing or engaging with people in the game in conducting rituals and forms of prayer to showcase their spiritual belief system, that would make sense as the games are meant to be grounded in history with only a slight deviation into science-fiction. There are references in the older games that mystical things would appear before you, but it is firmly established that they aren't real and that they are simply illusions created by "pieces of eden" (mind controlling technology). Mythological elements would have to be incorporated in a symbolic fashion rather than a literal fashion.
I wouldn't trust THIS team with that. But if this game was made by a team that cared, I could see some interesting things that don't veer too far into fantasy. After all, the Pieces of Eden do have a lot of elements tied to mythology and as long as they don't go too far (like Odyssey) it'll be fine.
Maybe the non lethal take down option extends to all innocents and bystanders ? In previous AC games, you would fails your misison, should you cause too many civilian casualties.
Looks pretty solid but try to keep the theme I guess. Never played the game but looks 👍. Could be worse. I have played way worse “ historical “ games that just sucked
He hasn’t even addressed it yet, perhaps if you gave him a chance maybe he would. But this doesn’t excuse you, if it’s not accurate, it’s not accurate, that’s a fact. Mind you I wouldn’t be against playing a game about Yasuke, it just depends if the game is trying to be accurate or not. You ever heard of the game Nioh, you play as William Adams and you get to fight Yasuke as a boss. It would be cool to have a game like that where you play as Yasuke as well. Both ideas are cool.
I mean, the maker of the game himself stated that the game won't be anywhere near historical accuracy at all so he doesn't really need to bother himself for it
I honestly think if you spent some time watching the older games as far back as 2007-2012, you would get greater context as to why the games are the way they are today. I would love to talk to you about it even further with you if you wanted. The games are meant to be still somewhat grounded in history but with a slight deviation into science fiction being misinterpreted as mysticism and spirituality. By the way, the Assassins in this game are meant to be the good side, fighting against the Templars who are the bad side, but the very first game was having you engage in political and moral conversations and made you question if the Assassins were truly good or bad and if the Templars were in fact the correct ones all along. It's only in today's version of the games that it's lacking nuance and substance that we have this crap before us.
Love your knowledge. As far as her stealth 🥷 and “magic” abilities that is just apart of the video game. All the Assassin’s Creed games have that game play such as Mirage, Unity, Black Flag. Ghost of Tsushima has it as well the Batman Arkham has that game play where you can see where your enemies are located. All of the Assassin’s Creed video games are loosely historical based and at the end of the day, it’s just an entertainment video game. Except the characters to do superhuman things
This Assasinscreed shadows is a woke mess. Im very glad that the Japanes gamers lunched a petition to rework and rewrite this game! With a native Japanese maincharakter.
Why? It's been done a million times already, and the existing translations are perfectly fine. Maybe start with those before you ask someone who doesn't speak or read Japanese to do it. The only reason for him to do it would be to troll the Niten-Ichi Ryu community.
This game doesn't have a single famous "永楽通宝" "Eiraku Tsuho" banner used by the Oda clan. In Japan, rather than focusing on racial differences, many people laugh at UBI because it often fails to research simple Japanese customs. Many people enjoy this game as a spot-the-mistake game without getting angry at UBI. UBI must be embarrassed that it was discovered that they didn't do their research properly, so please don't be mad at UBI and tell everyone that they should just think of it as a game "to be isekai'd" into a strange Japanese world and enjoy it. It would have been interesting if UBI had referenced the theory that the shadow clan, the Hata clan, might be Israelites and incorporated the idea that the Hata clan brought Israelites to Japan into the game’s story, connecting it to Assassin's Creed 1. It’s a missed opportunity for UBI. By the way, it's possible that "山科勝成," Katsunari Yamashina, a samurai warlord of Japan’s Sengoku period, might have been Roman. so let's all investigate that!

They basically made a watered down copy of
Ghost of Tsushima
Funny thing is, this game is almost contemporary with Ezio's era in Italy, maybe slightly afterwards.
And yet the Ezio trilogy was made in a time when Ubisoft cared about making great stories than making crap like this.

I don't think they had hoodies in feudal Japan. Edo period thieves are usually depicted with those two piece tennegui if they are trying to cover up.
I get that the hood thing is AC's trademark, but I feel like the costume design could have been more convincing.
