Pro tip: starting with Invite Foreign Investors first is huge for the economy, giving 2 offmap civs literally doubling the PRCs starting industry. Its only 70 days and helps out tremendously getting in the early game. I tried it one time and did a world conquest in 1948, demanding Mongolia and with the help of Germany it was really easy to defeat the USSR, then having military access to the Allies, I order 66d them, and then the Axis. Also picking Liu Shaoqi (the Silent Workhorse) at the very beginning is also really helpful, though after assigning the laws, advisors and military high command, PRC has not much to spend pp on, so its optional. I preferred Grand Battleplan for the PRC since it gives really good supply bonuses as well as unlocking Theatre training, making it much easier to get Adaptable on Lin Biao. I also just teamed up with the nationalists and defeated Japan first, then using the Infiltration mechanics, declared on China suddenly and the war was over really quickly. Maybe it takes longer this way to get the achievement but I found it to be really easy, and also fun at the same time (I focused on FeedBackGaming's new space marines template).
Adding to this, I think manually justifying from the start really gets you going a lot quicker. Just spam out low strength divisions, pin and hold. Easily unify the north before 1937.
Did they ever fix the infiltration mechanics? I always ignored them because it was a huge PP sink and every time I tried it China dismantles my cells faster than I can make them.
@@atlantiswolfif I remember last time I tried, they could only downgrade 2 levels at a time, so I could more or less easily maintain max infiltration in two states
It's crazy how good at this game you are dude. I find the learning curve really challenging as I don't really have the time to dedicate to it to get good to the point where playing is just fun and not simultaneously a massive exertion of will and brainpower, but your videos make it so I can have a fighting chance, know why certain decisions get made, and actually enjoy playing. Even if I don't do the same things you do because I want to try something different for immersion or other reasons, at least now I know what's possible and why I might make one choice versus another. Idrc about achievements so with Communist China for example I might try to follow a strictly historical path (with deviations to account for the natural unpredictability of playthroughs even on historical) and not immediately rush all my neighbors, but just from the start of your video I know what production and focuses to prioritize, etc. Another example: I love playing as the USSR because I love doing the communist thing, but getting invaded by Hitler is hella scary and stressful when you're not actually that good at the game, but your No Step Back video really helps give me a fighting chance (even though I'm taking many steps back lol. Then again, if Stalin, one of the greatest military leaders of all time, had to retreat all the way to Stalingrad, then I won't feel bad that the g*rmans pushed me out of Poland. But that's neither here nor there. Thanks for your excellent guides!
Actually by the time the armies arrived to Yan'An after suffering through a series of encirclement campaigns, they had already left most of if not all artillery during the Long March. Not wanting to flame, just wanted to educate people on the historical conditions that led to the lack of artillery.
By that time the Communists could barely afford the factories to make guns. They couldn't afford to make artillery. Game is not so historical@@guitch14
I'm very happy to see this guide remade, that's how I got to your channel, and after a few retarts I got the two achievements for Mao, and you do a great job!
Had a blast doing this. The war dragged on for me until 1946 to defeat the axis and then finally 1947 to get a foothold on Japan and end the war. I ended up joining the Comintern after China was defeated and got guaranteed by the Soviet’s which stopped Japan from invading me. I then went down the focus to trigger Japan invading me which dragged the soviets into a 2 front war against Japan and the Germans. Helped the soviets survive Germany and they helped eliminate what was left of Japan on the mainland. I realized I didn’t prepare a way to invade the japanese island and had to slowly build up to get there. In the meantime, I turned my attention to slowing down the Germans from steam rolling into Moscow because the soviets committed quite a few troops and air power to help us with Japan. A few years in and after a couple of failed paratroop invasions, we finally had a big enough navy to launch a lucky naval invasion, snapping up a port and funneling in our special forces mountaineers to clean up. The stage is set for a Comintern/Allies standoff in 1947! Sometimes I love this game thanks for the play through it really helped!
@@Graciolychina playthroughs are always awesome, but I feel like they seem somewhat easy because as maybe one of the only countries you don't have to worry about manpower at any stage of the game and with the mediocre industrial base you have spamming infantry is the only really valid option for the early and much of the mid game. Also for non Europe plays in general I feel like the combat is much less fun because of the lack of supply infrastructure everywhere
So ther IS an attritionbug in the game! had the same with the german civilwar, which dragged on and on, because regardless of the encirclement they didnt run out of supplies. Good to know there is a solution for it.
I always thought it was intentionally and a certain number of divisions could "life of the land" to give smaller armies a bit of an edge, but it's good to know that it's actually a bug!
As a newbie player, this gives me some ideas. There's a lot that I need to learn. So far, I've only had a few successful runs, such as taking over Europe with Germany, recreating the Swedish Empire minus their German/American landholdings, and recreating the United Central American Provinces. As for what I'm focusing on right now... Fascist Ireland taking out the U.K., Venezuela recreating Gran Colombia, and Spain (I can't even win the civil war for crying out loud). Anyways, thanks for the new idea Bitter! Love your videos!
Just a little tip for anyone who wants to play communist china: bittersteel builds infrastructure here at the start... now i'm not gonna criticise this in it of itself, but i wanna implore you to queue up something else to build, because you can't build infra while you are fighting in that state, but the game doesn't wanna let you know that your factories doing nothing, so just be aware of that.
Clean and cool video, I canno't stress enough how good is the rework of commie China in road to 56, I really encourage people to play it, PDX should watch, learn, and work
I formally request a Nationalist playhtrough in the 2020 but 1936 mod. It's not easy to retake China. In fact, I haven't yet. If anyone can, it's the man himself.
Ah, one of the few nations where you barely need guns, you have millions of men, sure most of them might be missing guns, but... (Changing all your 2 combat width divisions to 50 ones, needing only enough guns for the small divisions...)
Thanks for making this Bitt3r I have been trying to get the communist china achievements for a bit but the old guides failed me in one place or another. Once again thanks.

14:50 It could also be that they have enough supply in the state, since state supply is based on population (which is rediculously high, cause china). Then again, japanese divisions are enormous, so they should eventually run low on supplies in that scenario, especially if they don't own the full state.
I'm new to Hoi and I'm learning how to play with this guide, trying to follow the guide. Everything goes fine until i get to fight China. I'm unable to make any gains, instead China even captures my capital. I'm sure there are things I'm doing wrong (for example only on second attempt i noticed i should cancel training few days prior to war), but cannot grasp what. Can someone point me specifically to sth? For example a lot of my armies stand on Japanese border even though im not in war and i clicked Chinese border to ma front.

Good guide and all. But the japan in my game declared war in 1937. Way before the one in this video declared. And china weirdly never abandoned their border with me despite following this video. Big ouch. Never stood a chance.

you should try to have the experimental mechanised division from the soviet focus route b4 you attack central china, as no chinese unit can even scratch it.
my only complaint is that when I invaded china, china had divisions there and my divisions lacked equipment and i failed to push and the chinese instead piled divisions against me while the japanese rolled in, resulting in me getting very bad war participation and me falling behind well its not really a complaint....its just me telling everyone about my skill issue
Is anyone able to give me a more exact research order or a few tips for this run. Trying to follow like the guide shows but I always seem to be getting the draft dodging event by the time I annex that other communist Chinese warlord and my 3 armies never seem to be anywhere near well enough equipped by june 38 for the war against the nationalists
