They really need to come back to Chicagoland and Kentucky
After Newgarden won the championship last year, I thought there would be more interest in Kentucy or Nashville.
Chicagoland return confirmed!? Man ending the series at Chicagoland was genius back the, having such close finishes with the championship ending was awesome.
Nah, They often show races at tracks they no longer go to.
Bit artificial though, such high downforce in those cars meant the races were foot flat to the floor, hold the inside line dangerous wreckfests.
I'm glad indycar saw sense and moved away from that kind of racing.
cdname47 I concur. I don't think I'd watch a race like that at Chicagoland or any track. It's not the kind of "racing" I like to see, and definitely not the kind I would support.
trickyhero hmmm not sure if you're aware (btw not saying this sarcastically) but they did bring back Laguna Seca so that might the ender like the pre split CART days.
Kevin Hoonigan yeah I know it's back for the finale next year. There have been talks that chicagoland is back in discussions as well though.
1:25:40 Such a great call. Franchitti's gonna win the race AND THE CHAMPIONSHIP
This was another of the great championship seasons in the IRL along with 2002, 2003 and 2006. No double points events needed and good close racing all season. Fast forward to 2018, with Dixon chasing a 5th championship, it's interesting to see how close he already came to it in this race.
2007 was probably his most frustrating season. Finished 2nd to Franchitti at Indy after rain ended the race. Finished 2nd to Franchitti in the championship after running out of fuel 800m from the end.
I remember this race. My mom found a replay of this race somewhere and I remember this whole race briefly! #bringbackchicagoland
BRING THIS TRACK BACK
15:26 "For the FIRST time today...." I love me some Milk and Donuts.
Indycar deserves a race at Chicago again
In my honest opinion, the greatest Chicagoland Speedway race of all time. We'll miss you Chicagoland. 😭
1:25:30 Such a dramatic title finish. The way the commentator said as well "Dixon in control" and almost instantly he was out of fuel
Underrated time in Indycar
1:19:55 Scott Goodyear with the Truth Bomb
Please go back to this track! We need ovals.
Great upload. Thanks Indycar.
If only they went there for the 2011 finale. Track was/is way more suited for INDYCAR than Vegas
Kim Green trying to instruct Danica Patrick how to push start a car at 1:22:00. Kind of funny. Also, Ganassi's strategy and tactics were perfect in this race. Wheldon played the wingman role to perfection. A shame Dixon's car didn't have another half a lap of fuel in it.
I cheered for Dario, but seeing Scott slowing, it was total heartbreak.
Announcers act like it was a hole in one in golf or something. This was compatible to a game winning Hail Mary being caught in the Super Bowl, and it’s like any other thing to these guys. Soooo happy we’re off ABC.
3:12 Dario And Scott Slept Like Babies
What with that cut around lap 158?
As a Dixon fan, this still hurts to watch.
panne d essence dans le dernier tour pour dixon a chicagoland & qui donna le 1er titre de l écossais dario franchitti en indycar
Why this is not in Widescreen HD ???
Because it wasn't shot in widescreen HD.
HD technology wasn't that big back then. Some broadcasts were still in standard definition. This is probably the best quality upload. Kudos IndyCar.
What are talking about, in 2007 ABC was already broadcasting in HD here is an example: @ 1:05:07
Not all ABC programs were broadcasted in HD back in 2007. Some still used standard definition cameras.
1:34:00 - Brian Barnhart didn't show up to give the trophy because the winner was leaving for nascar. In retrospect, I don't know how much of that decision was Tony George or how much was Barnhart, but I really didn't like it.
Lol 1:34:02 that’s me on the bottom right in the white hat
start at 6:51
Ashley is a liar. Danica’s controlled spin gave Dario the chance to win. She did what a good teammate does. Not get enough credit. A shame.
Man those cars were ugly. I didn't think so at the time, but the modern cars make these cars look like prismatic boxes with weird high noses.
SLIDE JOB
Dear lord those cars were ugly, but I miss the Marlboro Penske (I know they didn't say "Marlboro" on them, but who were they kidding?) and Target Chip Ganassi paint schemes.
Thomas Booth they use to lol
Why does Indycar show us this great racing we use to have! Toady’s Indycar is so boring I don’t watch anymore. Thanks for the great memories.
Ma Hu boring??? My a**!!!!
It's a lot better now with genuine racing machines with low downforce than these high downforce, easy to drive, foot flat to the floor ugly crapwagons.
Give it a try, you might actually like it
cdname47 what crapwagons have you been watching the last 10 years
Ma Hu the irl cars were the crapwagons.
IndyCar from 2018 and true racers machines
Downforce is the enemy of driver skill and good racing
Ma Hu watch Long Beach, Phoenix, St. Petersburg, Mid Ohio and Iowa. Those were by far amazing races this year they brought a brand new aero and rules package this year my friend worth watching
As cringe as Ashley Judd is, she’s SPOT on about Milka Duno 1:30:42
The weakest start your engines in ages
back then when indycar was real OVAL racing and not a cheap/boring road course racing
Joan Sebastian I like road course racing, but today's Indycar does need more ovals.
Fake, high downforce, foot flat to the floor artificial racing you mean?
It's a true racers sport now, featuring low downforce cars that are a challenge for the driver.
Not the crapwagons of the irl era
Joan Sebastian watch Pre split CART and Post split CART those were amazing races on ovals you cannot deny that but I like the ovals now reminds me of a semi CART resemblance but we need more Ovals
im a fan from that CART era...
When Tony George was in charge and INDYCAR was in a death spiral.
