Kalaipuli S. Thanu is an Indian film producer, director and distributor, known for his films in Tamil cinema. He has produced several films through his two companies, V Creations and Kalaipuli Films International. Many of his films have been commercially successful, three of which are among the top-ten highest grossing Tamil films. He has won two National Film Awards, two Cinema Express Awards and one Filmfare Awards South.
He initially started as a distributor and publicity designer being responsible for christening Rajinikanth as "Superstar" and creating a 35 feet cutout of him in a theatre.He started his own company V. Creations and went on to produce commercially successful films with Vijayakanth in Cooliekkaran (1987), Nallavan (1988) and Pudhu Padagan (1990). His Vanna Vanna Pookkal (1992) directed by Balu Mahendra won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. He also did in a cameo appearance for a film Magalir Mattum in 1994. Kizhakku Cheemayile (1993) and Kandukondain Kandukondain (2000) won the Cinema Express Award for Best Film - Tamil. He has also produced films with Suriya in Kaakha Kaakha (2003), Maayavi (2005) and with Vijay in Sachein (2005), Thuppakki (2012) and Theri (2016). He collaborated with Rajinikanth for the first time for Kabali (2016).
He has produced four films with Dhanush such as Velaiilla Pattadhari 2 (2017), Asuran (2019), Karnan (2021) and Naane Varuvean (2022).

தமிழ் சினிமாவின் உண்மையான Hero, இசை ஞானி இளையராஜா மட்டும் தான். 🎹❤❤🎹
நல்ல அனுபவம் உள்ளது மேலும் தனி திறமை உள்ளது. தயாரிப்பு பக்கம் இருந்தாலும் மக்களின் மத்தியில் வித்தியாசமாக செலவு செய்பவர் என்பது தெரியும்.
It is good thing that Vijaykanth did not do movies with S.Dhanu after Pudhupadagan. Pudhupadagan was a crap movie. In fact, newer directors with fresh ideas like R.K
selvamani gave Vijaykanth another big push. If you see, vijaykanth did movies like Pulanvisaranai, Maanagara Kaaval, Chinna Gounder, chatriyan, Captain Prabhakaran, Bharatan, after this.
So, everything happened for the good too. S.Dhanu also was kind of getting self indulgent in his ideas/ thoughts/ movies.
Good that S.Dhanu too moved on.
One should learn from Rajini in these matters. Sometimes some associations/ teams also become outdated after a few years. Rajini learned to move on. You can't stick with the same set, like SP.Muthuraman, Suresh Krishna, K.S.Ravi Kumar beyond a point. Everyone has their best years, and soon lean years arrive. Understanding this cycle is very important for an actor to keep himself relevant to the times.
Of course, all discarded people are likely to have a grouse. Can't help it.
Another thing I liked about Rajini was he did not repeat movies with film makers like Manivannan, R.Sunderrajan. Both these directors are known not to have a proper script before shooting, but thinking and improvising on the spot. You can't take such gambles when involving crores of producers money. These directors were more suited to smaller budgets, where risk was less. Exactly by early 90s R.Sunderrajan's direction career was finished, and he turned to acting.
Thanu sir how talented he is. He is telling all the names,amounts and situations in details with precision in this age.. 😮

I am following almost all the interviews of chai with chitra. Except few of them including this, rest of the interviews are amazing, interesting and lot of life lessons. Thanu sir is known for his branding strategy and out of box ideas. But most of the time, he is branding him too much rather than giving his life experience although chitra sir tried his best to get his experience.

Sir, please don't spread same lies again and again. Karunanithi was the most sought out writer in 50's and 60's. He bought gopalapuram house and car before becoming MLA.
