“Puttel” and “Brödel” both are really old and derogatory German words for girl or Maid. “Asche” means Ashes... so “Aschenputtel” and “Aschenbrödel” means something along the lines of: “the ash girl” what fits the narrative of her sleeping in the Ashes of the house in the original Fairytale.

Cinderella ist die französische Version mit den Glasshuh. Und Aschenputtel die deutsche eine ganz bekannte Sache ist dabei das sich die Stiefgeschwister die Hacken abschneiden mit ein Messer damit die im Schuh passen.
