I just want to note that one should strongly consider using astra storm adjacent to alear and/or veyle to make use of the true damage. Great video and emblem

it might be remiss to not point out that astra storm can be quite strong when executed with a forged radiant bow

Astra storm is just strong period, especially when Lyn gets a 16 mt weapon for free. It just likely won't ORKO much in the endgame, but high Str characters can definitely kill with it before that.
At the end of the day it's typically a long range 1.5x damage hit, and while that's not bad it's not likely to oneshot Maddening endgame enemies that aren't fliers, and is not as much damage as attacking and doubling. It doesn't help that bows don't have a separate class of super-high might weapons like the melee weapons do in the form of smash weapons to benefit the engage attack calculation.
Ah, yes, the best combat emblem in Engage, speed + 20.

Finally, after all these years, Lyn is actually good to use.
note that if you want the doubles to be semi-dodgetanks, you can use avo crystals on the mani kati. Also, Alcryst's Luna is so reliable it can make Astra a genuinely fearsome attack, especially if you get him next to Alear/Veile
Astra storm has some fun uses
If you put lyn on a warrior and use a fracture on an enemy, you can have a 150% Astra storm
Combining that with Alear and/or Veyle's personal skills and you can get a really strong astra storm
and momentum from Sigurd
I used Alpaca boy as a Warrior and with Lyn and his Astra Storm was an ICBM. So, yeah, you can definitely build for it to be strong and kill a lot of key targets like countering Meteor Mages or Ballista. Same with Alcryst with high Dex to get good Luna proc chances, but thats so late game its more novel than practical.
Amber has the highest strength growth in the game and joins with one of the highest strength bases at his joining time, so he can hit really hard if you train him up.
Speedtaker my freaking BELOVED. I loved having Chloe and Alcryst consistently have like 50 speed after building it up
I didn’t use call doubles nearly enough because they’d always get in my way, but alacrity was seriously nice. I wish I’d known how well Astra storm could lure bosses because I struggled on so many chapters that could be skipped with it 😭
Alacrity is definitely not a great inherit, but it's a pivotal part of Lyn's kit all the same. Enemies hurt in this game, avoiding counters on ORKOs is very useful. Not to mention, accruing speedtaker charges without dying.
Can’t wait to see how long the Emblem Byleth video is.
Also it’s worth noting that Lyn doubles can participate in Lucina’s All for One, regardless of where on the map they are.
Synergy with Ivy
Gameplay: The extra speed and Speedtaker can make her double and avoid being doubled when using some heavier magic (obviously excluding Swordmasters and Griffon Knights), and using Nova with Alacrity can make her one round end-game Generals from close range, clowning on them (though you might wanna remedy her accuracy a bit, as you can miss even a 91% (happened like 4 or 5 times now)). Even a Mulagir Astra Storm from Ivy can almost or completely one shot Griffon Knights.
Narrative: Ivy comes to your army and completely revitalizes it as the only offensive flying mage in your army (Hortensia is a staffbot and Zelestia is DLC), and FE7, Lyn’s game, breathed new life into the franchise, mainly due to being the first game released outside of Japan. Both are… well-endowed and are known for both their outer and inner beauty. And the two of them are loyal to their respective games main lords (Ivy to Alear due to worshipping them and later actual camaraderie, and Lyn to Eliwood due to him helping her in her quest, and valuing her friends).

+5 speed from stat buffs, +5 speed from speed +5, +5 speed from Muligair, +10 speed from speedtaker adds up to a total of 25 speed
Lyn is such a good emblem, actually used her on alear of all things on my second playthrough, was not disapointed. Giving them bow access with mulagir and prior to it killer bow was really useful, and on a decent alear (or any unit really), the speedtaker+alacrity + any extra speed from lyn are so much fun, allows to dodge a ton of damage by killing any unit before it can counterratack. And astra storm is super cool. Super cool emblem

@@paperluigi6132 actually it works very oddly in engage, instead of actually halfing the enemies defense it just adds half of the enemy's defense to your attack, so for some reason instead of doing roughly double the damage you normally do it just adds up to five damage on a non-defense based enemy

Lyn!Etie was hilariously strong by the end of my first playthrough. They were MVP'ing 2/3 times throughout the game.
Seeing a need for speed ad before this was... horrifying.
Lyn is my favourite FE7 female main character, Because She is very difficult and not normally Eastern Swordmaster girl, And that her outfit(Sky blue mid-thick short sleeve long Cheongsam(Inside is dark green mid-thick short sleeve light armoured ninja suit, dark green mid-thick tight shorts), mid-thick fingerless gloves, Brown flat riding boots(dark green mid-thick tight ninja socks)) and equipment weapons(Mani Katti(Later Athos made Sol Katti to give her strike final boss), All Bow) can make her Strength is mid-high, Skill and Speed is highly, But her Physical defense is medium and Magic defense is mid-low, She good to use range weapon to attack Flying units(Pegasus Knight, Falcon Knight, Wyvern Rider, Wyvern Lord,Wyvern knight) and self-defense and support battle friends. So when I play the FE 7 games, Every remember FE 7 female main character and her outfit.
Lyn wearing battle outfit is cool, She didn't like wearing leggings and heavily armour, Because she like comfortable and to easy move around, And that she can handing Mani Katti or Sol Katti or All Bow, So many player who think she is not only Lord, When she assault to Enemy leader and strike units or destroy enemy supplies, She will change to Ninja outfit and equipment(Take off Cheongsam and riding boot, Only wearing ninja suit and shorts and ninja socks and ninja straw sandals, equipped Mani Katti or Sol Katti and All Bow and Shuriken) going to Mission Impossible, But She really is Myrmidon, Swordmaster, Ninja, Master Ninja, That is awesome and nice pretty Sacaen Eastern shadow samurai-kunoichi princess.
Note : Funny question, I can't believe in Japanese voice to found voiced by the famous magic girl anime Corrector Yui(Yui Kasuga, She is main Character of Corrector Yui) and Kirby, But that is awesome and very nice and pretty Japanese voice was Lyn.
I'd like to add that you can use the Astra attack to ohko squishy mages from afar. Which I usually do in order to place a demolition man like Louis+Sigurd in a place that would bait many enemies at once. He normally takes no damage from physical attacks, and taking away from magical threats makes him basically unstopable.
The best use is to lure out bosses but my favourite was to put her on Panette so she could one shot anything within half the map of her location.
Gotta love subweapons being used for some of these emblems. And yeah, I am not unfamiliar of some FE7 runs using bows primarily on Lyn post-promotion
I legit believe that whoever created the lyn ring tried to balance it but broke her even more by accident lol. I think she is the best emblem in the entire game even against the dlc characters.

I think people are way too concerned with what's considered "the best" when the whole point is using these rings in tandem with each other. Missing the forest for the trees.
How do you rate Lyn up against something like the behemoth combination of Micaiah + Byleth + Dancer (+Edelgard if DLC)?

Using Lyn with Etie and inheriting Speed+5 solved every single issue my Etie was having and instead turning her into an unstoppable machine with plenty of muscle to spare
Keep in mind inheriting Speed +5 negates the +5 speed from Mulagir as it surpasses the buff cap

probably the best emblem in the game Imo. Other emblems might do certain things better, but lyn just brings so much to the table with one unit that no other unit can.

I'd say Byleth and Lyn are tied, Lyn's luring ability with Astra Storm and all that speed are some of the best utility in the game, but Goddess Dance is fucking broken. Micaiah has amazing support and is still probably S or A tier but without both offensive capability and utility she doesn't overshadow those 2. For DLC Emblems, there's definitely an argument to be made for Soren being the best one, between Bolting and Assign Decoy. Having an AOE Emblem attack is always nice for chip, and Anima Focus' increased crit chance for Dragon units is really useful for Crit builds. If you've seen his first Maddening run of the game you'll have noticed the insane stuff Vantage/Hold Out Veyle can do with Soren.
I didn't expect that Corin didn't even got mentioned in this debate. The ability to greatly influence the battlefield and movement of opponents + debuffs shouldn't be underestimated. And on covert unit or alear it gets wonderfully broken.
@@dominikstickling8197 I love using Corrin on Alear but I think she's probably low S or high A, same as Micaiah. Draconic Hex and Dragon Fang are good for damage control, but her Engage weapons and stat boosts aren't that good.

I just warp skipped that one. That boss is pretty easy to kill because of how broken Corrin is. You can just use torrential roar to freeze the boss, lower their stats by 4, and turn their +30 avo into a -30 avo

In my first Maddening run, Lyn turned Ivy into a ridiculous unit with high stats in everything
Alacrity deserves a little bit more credit imo, because it helps a unit one round an enemy without having to risk dying on the enemy's counter. Notably the Corrupted Wyrms, and many enemy berserkers with tomahawks, and since they usually have such low speed that you don't need to spend that much sp to satisfy the skill conditions.
Astra storm agro is so strong.

Is Speed actually as good as people make it out to be? Doubling is a tiered thing (you either have it or you don't), enemies with high speed have low might that counteracts it, and you get only 2% Avoid per Speed point otherwise. It's a force-multiplier for sure, but there are diminishing returns, especially compared to previous FE games due to 1RN being used when the foe has a 50% hit rate or lower.
Avoid stacking in this game is nuts and on Maddening endgame enemies will double your units if they aren't in fast classes.
The avoid isn't why you want the speed, it's for hitting doubling thresholds. Units like amber and etie are strong, but not fast enough to reliably double, so lyn is best used on them to give them the doubling power they need for onerounds
lyn emblem is mostly overkill speed, but yes speed is as important as most people think. excel reccomends inheriting speedtaker but honestly that’s not really worth it for 90% of the cast; it’s almost always better to grab speed +3 and get the rest of your speed to double from emblems, meals, rallies, etc. finding the right combination of speed buffs to double and one round is an important learning curve and lyn emblem giving speed inherit gets her points for that
Each individual hit of Astra can trigger Alcryst's Luna ability and can hit deceptively hard with Mulagir or a forged Radiant Bow
Also I played Hard difficulty not maddening, and enemy AI always seemed to prioritize killing doubles on Hard which made it a surprisingly good defensive ability
I love how Lyn is one of the most boring lords for me, and I thought I was not going to use her on Engage because she looked boring
And then I give her to Amber and holy fuck, Amber + Lyn is just hilarious. Amber has the strenght to send into the shadow realm Mages/Healers, and Speedtaker just keeps growing on him.
Im playing on hard mode and if you get a unit with around 50 def like say goldmary general its hilarious how barring back up unit enemy chain attacks and mages the clones just dont die XD
Hortensia makes decent use of Alacrity since she's super-fast and too frail to survive multiple counters, at least on HM not sure about Maddening.
Hortensia isn't that suited for combat though, she's mostly a staffbot (a really good one)

you don't need lyn on a covert to have enough range for most boss lures. I almost always put lyn on a warrior and still have more than enough range to lure bosses like ike or micaiah in paralogue maps
Kinda disagree with this one. I’ve done 4 maddening runs, one with Lyn on a covert and 3 with Lyn on non-coverts, and the boss lure is a lot less useful on a non-covert. I think the strategy is most useful on multi-boss maps like ch 17, 21, 23, etc, so you can pick off bosses one at a time instead of fighting multiple at once since many will have overlapping ranges or it’s annoying to fight through the chapter gimmick to beat the map (chapter 23). With non-coverts, I always seem to be just out of range, or in-range but aggroing another boss. Not saying you should always put Lyn on a covert (I certainly don’t) or that it’s worth it specifically for this strategy, but the boss lure astral storm is definitely harder to utilize for non-coverts. Though I see your point on one-boss maps. I usually use those for xp though and don’t lure Ike or Micaiah, so I do see the use case there even though I don’t personally use it then.

Speed is overblown in Fire Emblem, especially in Engage. The real utility of Lyn is the non-speed stuff; Alacrity, aggro-drawing with Call Doubles, and formation-disrupting with Astra Storm.
The reason why the Doubles sometimes aren't preferred is that the AI prefers doing high damage over actually killing.
Bro in engage you can get 170 avoid on maddening with little effort

Speed is the most important stat in engage hands down. Being able to consistently double or at the very least not get doubled is hugely important. Speed is the reason why kagetsu and pandreo are such unambiguous top tiers, and it's the reason lyn is arguably the best emblem in the game without dlc
