What a talented lady Jules is. One week scrambling across rafters the next rummaging under floors and loads of stuff in between. All with a smile. A rare person indeed.
You've done such a good job that I think anyone looking at your house from the outside (inside, too, once it's finished) would assume it was built by professionals. I believe it's your attention to detail that makes the difference. I just love your helper kitties. They have to be into everything their people are doing, don't they, including following you up onto the roof!
Wow what a job on those trees! Jewels you rock lady! The windows are going to be beautiful & breathtaking for when the snow is falling and you’re indoors with a warm n cozy fire going! I can’t wait to see it! Hot chocolate anybody?
Oh the humanity! Glad the coffee was saved. Maybe from now on you state that no coffee was spilled in the film of this video..... And that cat! Hilarious. Jules is Wonder Woman incognito. Martin, you have an amazing help mate.
greetings ms julie; i was riding with my wife and she was holding a styrofoam cup (huddle house) of coffee when she hit some water on the road which caused us to completely change directions (180 degrees plus). upon regaining control and stopping, she was a nervous wreck but came around when she realised that she had not spilled one drop of her precious coffee. we have laughed about this many times hence. your comment about being the coffee saver reminded me of this. have a wonderful day and keep up that beautiful smile....g
Julie is aa awesome lady, looking really good good but I still think Marty is asking for trouble with the snow, just my opinion course when I was 20 years younger I did the same thing in the bull mountains in Montana, loved it playing with my horses and dogs and tractors and my grandson, enjoy folks
I've seen several comments about the paper side of the insulation/installed it upside down, etc. She did it right! Regardless of whether fiberglass insulation is installed in a wall, attic, or crawlspace; the paper facing should always face toward the inside of the home. That's because the paper contains a layer of asphalt adhesive which prevents water vapor from passing through it. Great Job! R-Value would be Energy-Star rated at R25-30 though.
Invest in a router with a flush trim bit! It will be worth it will help with a lot of your projects that you have going on, great job on you're home !!
What a great way to start my cold and snowy Monday, watching your progress on your homestead. That roofing looks amazing. Watching those trees come down with the tractor? Wow!!! So glad the bees were not to disturbed. And Jules-putting up the insulation? You rock girl! Martin and the windows, yous are great team work. Thank you for a terrific video shared and by now I am sure you have the snow we are getting here in Alberta. Have a great week and stay warm people
Great job Jewels!! That hard work in such a small space! Marty, the windows are gonna look really nice in the gable! Your hard work is paying off, thanks for taking us along on your off grid journey. Looking forward to the next video!✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
F.Y.I/ Julie installed the insulation in basement outside walls backwards. Kraft side shole be on the inside. If you ever do another build that requires insulation under the floor you can save time by installing it before installing plywood flooring. Just staple kraft paper to top of floor joists. MUch easier on your bride.
Jules, you did the thankless work of ten men! Many folks couldn't even fit down there. Any overhead work is exhausting! Great job! All the little detail will pay big dividends! I enjoy your channel very much. I'm smiling!😀
Those rods that you were putting to hold up the insulation tend to rust over time. As a suggestion I would say take a sheet of 4'x8'x1/2" foam insulation board and nail it on the underside of the insulation. Then if you want to go further you can put plastic before the foam boards and tape the foam board joints to make the space even more air tight.
If you keep the black tank for emergency water supply then you will need to keep water moving through it. Otherwise still water will get stale and stagnant. Side note your tractor tires can have fluid added for weight. See your equipment dealer. You have a beautiful place and your hardworking is doing great with family and friends. Have a blessed winter ❄️. Thanks again for your posting.
The windows look awesome, poor kitty...lol Jules was killin it with the insulation, she's a real go getter! Love what you're doing, great job with the trees as well.
I’ve been binge watching for weeks to get caught up and “TA DA” I’m finished. However I’m so intrigued that I’ve got to go further back now to watch your missionary days. Lol I just love your story and your family. Gods Blessings to you and your family!✝️
WOW! It's lookin great!!! Love the window waaaaay up in the end. That room is gonna be amazing! Very bright and airy! Love it!!! You guys are one amazing couple! I can't wait to see the first snow!!! I love the snow! People think I'm crazy but I love it. Now, my body doesn't but as long as I can bundle up or be in a room like you're building with all those windows and I have heat inside--I'm good!!! I'm so excited! I can't wait til it's done! Again y'all are amazing and your "house" is amazing, too!!!😊 May God watch over you, keep you healthy, safe, happy and help you through all you do. 🙏🏼😊❤️
It took me months to catch up on your home build, I even your addition would be great, and you made it even better with the area you have the water system. Why have you not enclosed the end even with plastic sheet until the windows come in? When I visited Coeur D'Alene several years ago I said I would love to live there. I would keep the water tank to maybe one day add drain water collection for your garden.
wow Julie your going so fast good job and Martin well you always do good job with the trees and the windows and the gable end to will be alot warmer soon
Congrats Guy's on getting the roof done and Jules getting the insulation almost done. UR Supervisors kittens are keeping you guy's on ur toes.. ha/ha/ha kittens get into so much trouble.. lv them.. save the Coffee Jules..
You guys are getting things wrapped up just in time. Winter is almost upon you. How cool to have a couple that can do just about anything there is to get this house done. Be safe and thanks for sharing.
How wonderful being into the final basic covering the windows and doors just before snow comes...basic need now... and looking so wonderful, a nice house becoming a comfy 🏡
Your knees and back are feeling the heat from the flooring work but it sure will feel nicely this winter as you spend more time in that room enjoying your back yard. Great design of this room really like what you did and it is most important room in the whole build in my opinion.
The construction is top notch! The only failing of this video is that Marty doesn't speak a single adverb where it is required. Consult with Jewels because she knows how to use them!
There is something about your videos that makes my 3 yr old Border Collie go nuts and growl and whine! I know he has an issue with the noise of the 'Keep similing ' ding at the beginning but he was nuts all through this video. Have to watch yours when he is not around! LOL
It's great that you have achieved so much before the first big fall of that yucky white stuff (snow). The house is really coming on in leaps and bounds and a credit to you all!!
You guys are doing an awesome job house looks very good I like your new addition on it you’ll make it a lot bigger inside guys keep it up and I’ll keep watching I’ve been watching since you guys started living there in
Jules, you are flipping amazing!!! And everything that got done in this episode is awesome!!! Heck yeah it’s an ice cream night!!! WhooHoo! You for sure need that sheathing so you guys can be warm!!! God bless!!!
Check out Jule's face with the realisation she's 'in' the rain while Martin's covered from the rain 11:01 ... "lucky you" ... smile through gritted teeth ... made me chuckle, again .... 😄Another good episode guys, lovely to see happiness at play. Lookin good, keep it goin', keep em comin.
I love how curious the cats are, gotta check out the roof and the blue level straight edge. Also a cat foot in the silicone water-proofing! Jules you are so happy and willing to do such hard work. You rock. You are both such hard workers.
Great job. Well done. I'm so glad that you finished just in time before the first snow. Enjoy your warm house. You came a long way since last winter. So much progress.
Of you have not purchased your solar panels yet. Check out the Canadian bifacial solar panels, they generate ~30% more power daily from ambient light from the rear. In winter light from the snow will start generation from the rear side of the panels with the front being snow covered. Also a bank of amorphous solar cell panels will generate in low light situations.
Great job! The roof looks awesome! I really hope your eyes don't feel like sand is in them Jules. I put up insulation without goggles and regretted it later. 🙏
If you can pry up the unsecured end of the sheeting ( a flat bar could do it ) you could squeeze a bead of polyethylene construction adhesive in between the sheeting and the joist/rafter. If you just wanted to.

If you run rain gutters into that tank that way you have water in the summertime for your outdoor garden

True unless it rains before you get the roof on like it did every time with us.

Jules is a hard worker. Pretty sure that insulation in the crawl is installed upside down, but great effort regardless
Wow look at the snow! Where did the summer go? Wow
The windows look awesome, poor kitty...lol Jules was killin it with the insulation, she's a real go getter! Love what you're doing, great job with the trees as well.
That flashing is good on the porch side to protect against condensation on the inside so good call doing it on that side.
Just keep smiling! You guys are the best!
Your house really is beautiful! Tree clearing was amazing. Where's Jules ice cream?
Should have had Safety Sally jumping on his back when he was halfway through that cut. LOL

The trick to the straps is tension. If it’s not tight enough, they have less of a chance to come undone when pulling.
You guys are doing an awesome job house looks very good I like your new addition on it you’ll make it a lot bigger inside guys keep it up and I’ll keep watching I’ve been watching since you guys started living there in
A lot of progress in this video. Maybe you beat the snow to have all of the windows in. We will find out. Have good days!

You've got to twist those straps to get them, something you learn as a paperboy, back when they did door to door delivery of papers. :)

Heather could mill up that cedar for you. Makes great siding.
The tank can be cut into sheets and make incredible water proofing once they are flattened out with the sun.
