@@fz0gtg Moved out to a very rural area 12 yrs ago, and I put an ad in Craigslist for an acoustic guitar player for me to play bass with just for fun. A guy about a half mile from my place was the first to respond. I find out he is a huge Boston fan too. He was just learning to play drums, about a year into the process. We became friends. A year after I met him he went into a coma for a few months. He got a severe fungal infection in his lungs. The ultimate cover. And to ad Justin on slide in the breakdown just sealed it as the ultimate cover. A brilliant song raised up to its ultimate level. Wow.
This was really a great tribute to Boston! I loved how it was faithful to the original in many ways but allowed the different artists to express their own spin on it. I especially liked Mike Portnoy on the drums. Mike is absolutely one of the best drummers out there today.
As an Audio Mastering Engineer, I can state with absolute confidence that this is MUCH more than an INCREDIBLE cover tune. I've known Mike for many years (although he many not remember our first meeting up in New Hampshire in 1997), and we discussed the intricate details in mathematics required to be a drummer of his caliber at that time. As a Double Masters grad from MIT, I told him I was easily able to recognize this hidden talent of his. Sure, this tune is a pretty much a straight 4/4 meter, but Mike will ALWAYS be an extraordinary percussionist regardless of time signatures. I was a classically trained pianist from the time I was 5 years old, and traveled in progressive rock bands after getting sick of 'think tank' and engineering design work after 6-7 years out of MIT. I didn't find this video until just now in 2024, and it is exceptional. I remember playing this tune on the road in the very early 80's, and my baby brother freaking out as I was memorizing all of these tunes before auditioning for the first hot band to go on the road. It was a huge step to take, but worked out incredibly well as I was also the Musical Director of the group. Anyway, I simply love what this musical ensemble did with this Boston cover tune. It's the best version I've ever heard on the internet. BRAVO!
Watching the players individually and together construct this piece is fantastic. When you don't see it in person it's easy to take for granite the talent at work .
Amazing. Boston is by far the best 80’s band. I grew up in Boston and their songs are a part of my childhood. The notes, the timing, everything is spot on. Great jobs guys. Hard to recreate a classic but you did a fantastic job.
Every time I hear Boston it reminds me of them playing at the Music at the Meadowlands in 1979. It was the second concert there and the groups were Boston, Todd Rundgren's Utopia, The Outlaws and Poco. Over 55,000 people were in attendance. I also saw the The first concert held there as well as the third. The first concert was in 1978 with The Beach Boys, Steve Miller Band, Pablo Cruise, and Stanky Brown. Boston was the second concert and in 1980 The Eagles, Heart, and the Little River Band played. Boston was so loud the stadium was shaking. People around me were covering their ears too. Like someone else said, you were faithful to the song and yet splashed this baby with your personalities and drives ...BRAVO !!!!
That was a fantastic rendition of one of my favorite Boston songs. Never quite got that first drum sequence. The drummer does a GREAT interpretation of what Boston would sound like if Neil Peart or Danny Carrey were playing. Nicely done!!
This is simply staggering. What a soul soaring rendition of this classic masterpiece. Mr. Doley, sir, nothing else comes close to arousing pure joy like music of this calibre; an elixir for all that ails. Despite all evidence to the contrary, I can now rest satisfied there is hope for old-school-cool rock 'n roll knowing that bands like yours are BRINGING IT HOME brother...perhaps yours like no other. I don't know much, but I know insanely great musicianship when I hear it....the mix, the vocals, the dynamics, the effortless concord, just wow. I hope you guys pass thru Canada someday soon. Nothing short of death would stop me from seeing that show, and even then I'd probably just be a little late. Well done mates, carry on....
Amazing cover by amazing musicians. Thank you guys. But this makes me realise once more how immensly great this production must have been in 1976. Boston is the best.
I jammed with Joel H a few times in NY. He is a HUMBLING (and I mean that) player, but a very nice guy. I then saw him playing lead in Rock of Ages in Broadway. The man recognized me and pointed at me from the stage; my wife was VERY impressed. 100% fan of the talent and the man.
I can't stop watching... I think you guys are unbelievable.. the best thing to the real thing. I'm surprised that Boston hasn't called you yet or just to give a high-five.. great job!!!
I used to play this intro live. One time I messed it up so badly I had to stop, apologize to the crowd, and try again. I was so nervous my hands felt like cement. Not my best moment. ;) haha You killed it though of course.
Live performance is an amazing thing... Its as if some of it is not real.... I've been hit with Stone hands before. I think it's some form of nervous shock... Was trying to play Hey You on my guitar that was set up Nashville tuning.

Like someone else said, you were faithful to the song and yet splashed this baby with your personalities and drives ...BRAVO !!!!
This is the first time I have ever seen anyone other than Boston play their music 🎵🎶. Bravo 👌👏
Holy shit! Played with the force of a monster truck! Perfectly performed, but with some brilliant innovations!
Cheers
Love the hammond ❤❤❤❤rockin right here on my phone and tv rockin❤❤❤😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow! What a rendition! Vocals are outstanding, great voice. It just doesn't get better than this.
That bassist is all over it! In the pocket!
Holy crap...... absolutely blown away
RIP Brad Delp - I love the vocals on this one. It'll be on the playlist for sure. Think I like it more than the original.
Hugh? I'm molten by pure joy!
I can't stop watching... I think you guys are unbelievable.. the best thing to the real thing. I'm surprised that Boston hasn't called you yet or just to give a high-five.. great job!!!
Voce INCREDIBILE!!!!!! Gruppo fantascientifico!!!!!
Knock my socks off! C3 player, now 75 oh how I miss it!! Thanks for C3 LIFE
Was fortunate enough to have seen the "boys" do it live in '78. Great rendition. Oh how I miss terrestrial FM AOR
Awesome
I used to play this intro live. One time I messed it up so badly I had to stop, apologize to the crowd, and try again. I was so nervous my hands felt like cement. Not my best moment. ;) haha You killed it though of course.
Oh no. Happens to all of us
Live performance is an amazing thing... Its as if some of it is not real.... I've been hit with Stone hands before. I think it's some form of nervous shock... Was trying to play Hey You on my guitar that was set up Nashville tuning.
Times such as that are more "invaluable to your future playing" than you can imagine today! Rock ON!
Always loves this song..such great memories ...bang on..wow
yep great comment re invaluable for future...so true.
J. D. ako nisi najbolji na svijetu u svojoj branši, nemoj ni pokušavati,- batali to, (to vrijedi i za sve nas, u bilo čemu) jer, život otkucava dragocjeno vrijeme, i nemamo vremena za prosječnost!
Unfortunately I can only put one thumb up...
This video deserve a million of thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hah thanks mate
Amazing craftsmanship. Very good.
WHOA! One of my all time favorites! I expected disappointment, but I am BLOWN AWAY! And I'm hard to impress as a guitarist bassist keyboardist of no particular fame or talent myself!
Completely - blown away by this on many levels - Foreplay means so much to me - and the arrangement and sound you guys get is astonishing!
Soo Good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Doug from Atl: my gast is flabbered. Wore the grooves out on this album ( yes, chillin, we had those), these guys KILLED that tune! Well played.
A W E S O M E !!! The vocalist voice is gorgeous and singing a Brad's song is a MISSION IMPOSSIBLE!! Great drummer, great guitar players, Lachy is terrific... ALIENS!!! ❤❤❤❤
ALIENS!!!! W00000000T!!!
Great musicianship. I would have never believed a slide guitar would work in this tune but dude, It works. Love it.
Sure does
Mike sounds awesome on the intro! Nothing better than 70s Boston.
Another level guys, 💯 Lachy never ceases to amaze me. Bang on the money Guys, each and everyone of you deserves the plaudits. Absolutely Spellbinding.
Cheers Joby
Dino svaka čast kralju 👍🇭🇷. This sounded just perfect
