Master Sword: * runs out of energy and peaces out to Korok Forest * Link: How do you have the energy to do that, but not enough to finish of this bokobl-
Bro I swear I've done the Master Sword returned to the forest glitch. I was just fighting some guy and I threw the sword somehow. Then I got the message after the fight was over. It tripped me out lol
I feel like the master sword returning to the forest is more likely a fail-safe left in, similar to the blood moon triggering at weird times because there's a spawning glitch that occurred. It exists just to idiot-proof the game.
I think that's true as far as its implementation in the final game (I actually wonder what would happen if you forced the game to let you drop the actual Master Sword, and not a duplicated one), but the fancy animation to me suggests that they had something else planned. My guess is that the Master Sword once was able to be dropped, and under circumstances where any other item would despawn it would just fly back to the Korok Forest. The animation seems like it was designed to be easily visible from a distance to me, and as is it would be rather jarring to see in the middle of an attack ("did my sword just fly out of my hand?") so I don't think it was for when it broke.
I believe the sword would’ve lasted much longer than it does in game currently if that was the mechanic. If that’s true, I would’ve much preferred that.
I do wish we had the option to put it back if we wanted though. Late in my playthrough I found that it was too easy to fight with all the high level drops, so to shake things up I limited myself to no fast travel while exploring and only using knight level weaponry and lower. Unfortunately the Master Sword was always there, so in a pinch I'm always tempted to use it. Probably should have just started a new file, tbh.
Maybe the Goron Golem was meant to be something like the Cucco Revenge Squad. You mess with the Gorons often enough, and then they go Devastator and beat the crap out of you. But it was probably going to be some kind of surprise boss.
Idk why i'm just imagining Link holding onto the sword as it's going back to the forest, and then he just flies and spin all the way to the forest with it
@@joshuawatson9469 To me, it seems like you’d normally get a sword beam a sixth as powerful without the Fierce Deity mask, however if the Great Spin Attack were available, you’d get a sword beam one quarter the power of the sword beams that you get using the Fierce Deity mask.
There's just something about the synth libraries used for that game that was just right. The instruments were just so full-sounding. Heck, everything was just right in that game. The spritework and dungeons were amazing.
I always stumble upon these zeltik videos after I smoke kush. Something about the Zelda franchise really trips me out. Has a certain feel no other games have
I think that originally the Master Sword in BotW had a limited amount of energy, and if the player kept using it even in its depleted state, the game would “penalize” the player by making them go and retrieve it again.
Now that would make for a solid "challenge mode" mod. (Ab)use the Master Sword too much, then it leaves and you have to go all the way to the forest to get it back again.
I’m still kinda salty that Miyamoto forced Twilight Princess 2 into Link’s Crossbow Training due to him hating the idea of video games having a somewhat deep storyline.
Breath of the Wild was my first Zelda game (outside of playing bit of OoT at a friend's house growing up), and it is possibly my favorite game of all time. However, I hope that there is another, more traditional, 3D Zelda game that comes out soon- even if its only a side project. Or at the very least port Twilight and Wind Waker HD, I mean come on.
Ya some channels would just be like "this thing exists" and leave it at that, Zeltik at least tries to think up a logical reason for what it could have been
"The Master Sword has returned to the forest" feels similar to how we have to return to particular towns to reforge any of the Champion weapons if they break. Comparatively though, retrieving the Master Sword probably wouldn't cost rupees and gems like repairing a Champion weapon, just time and patience.
"The Master Sword has returned to the Forest." I just realized the master sword shooting into the air reminds me of when Fi went flying into the air when you got to Nayru's flame.
One thing I haven't heard anyone mention before is that OoT's credits theme (or rather, a shortened version) is already in Minish Cap (as the enemies across Hyrule are clearing up, post Vaati fight). I've always thought that the Lost Woods theme found in the files was simply originally going to be incorporated into the rest of that credit theme. Why it's a seperate file entirely I'm not sure in the slightest though. Anyway, great video, man!
The beginning part of Zeldas Lullaby bit from OoT’s credits is also in Minish Cap as the beginning of this game’s version of Zelda’s Theme, which to my knowledge they haven’t used anywhere else in any other games. Perhaps they made a few covers of OoT songs using Minish Caps music engine early in development just for placeholders, but kept a few in the final product in the end?
That last one looks so cool! Didn’t know that one. Also could you do a theory on the Angular Isles in Wind Waker. In the figurine gallery at Forest Haven, the figurine for the great fairies says they were born on Angular Isles and it just seems really random. (Those scuba diver guys were apparently also born there)
Maybe the screaming sound clip and the ruined island are connected. Like after you get both the earth and the fire pearls, you go to that ruined island but it isn’t ruined yet. You complete the dungeon but as you go to get the water pearl, ganon destroys the island and attacks the water spirit after which you get an animation of him swimming away. So you then have to travel to where the water spirit is now and he laughs in surprised happiness because he thought you died. Then he gives you the water pearl.
I just want to say your videos are always A++ quality. The editing, background music, and your facts are always so good. Thank you for putting so much thought and creating connections within these stories - it helps makes this already loveable franchise even more enjoyable.
From what i know that happens quite often. Usually when they have a good idea they want to use but can't for whatever reason, they eventually return to it.
One time I turned Link into a mask, and then a body without a back to the head. It was really weird and hilarious, so I took a screenshot of it. It was yesterday.
Have to tell this: i am sitting on the Toilet and the Niagara Falls are spilling out my backdoor its burning like hell and if theres a God he will stop it soon
All rust and degradation is because of malice. Malice seeping into everything is why everything suddenly starts breaking down like they are made of cardboard.
Even when I'm playing a non-Zelda game, listening to your vids gives me the chance to mull over ideas and try new things with the classic titles that I've played a million times. Love your dedication and enthusiasm, huge fan!
Goron Golem: I think its an enemy that uses the gorons model as a placeholder and since the idea got scrapped early on no further resources went into actually making the small monsters that form the golem, and the golem stayed the way we see it now in the files.
I remember a post-release advertisement for OoT in Nintendo Power that mentioned a sword beam, and I was super confused on why I couldn't get it to work.
The master sword returning to the forest would be cool if, upon regenerating after a few minutes, it descended back into Link's hands from the forest. How awesome would it be to be in the middle of a battle and the master sword just falls from the sky?
Lets be honest, if they added the whole master sword returning to the forest into the final version of the game no one would touch breath of the wild no matter how pretty it looks
I was just watching one of your older videos about Zelda Final Bosses. I have a question. Which villain in Zelda is the worst, and which is the best? What do you think? Who are the worst villains in the series, and who are true foes for the hero and princess?
Goron Golem looks like an early idea for a Stone Talus. Also, I wouldn't have minded being forced to return to the woods ONCE...after that having to wait would become the game mechanic, understanding that the sword moves back into your inventory after recharging in the forest. Loving your channel, Zeltik!
I’m pretty sure the Jaboon sound effects were played and explained in almost the same way in another Zeltik video. It’s kinda lame that this took away a spot on the list.
Idk why but I want the last one to be real because I think it would look cool. Instead of it returning to the forest. That's the animation for breaking and you keep the master sword. Just a cool concept I think.
Wasn't it confirmed that the 'rust' on the master sword in BOTW is actually malice? Idk if this was a debunked thing or not but i remember something about this.
Fun fact: that audio clip of Jabun yelling in pain is actually used in the final game. When Link opens the chest containing the Triforce Chart/Piece, it is followed the clip but sped up and higher pitched. Excellent video though, Zeltik!
Surprised you didn't mention the Twilight Assassins from Twilight Princess over the Goron Golem, they are that variant of the shadow beasts that appear in a couple of cutscenes with Zant, that have the mask that looks like a cog and are bigger, they were in a beta version of TP and suppose to be a stronger version of Shadow beasts but were removed from the gameplay unfortunately.
I wonder if the Master Sword animation was originally intended for when you get shocked and would normally drop your weapon. This would keep you from losing it or an enemy picking it up to use against you. The fact that dropping electrically charged bows might be related. Although I can't remember what happens now if you're shocked while holding it; you don't let go?
I have a theory about the Dropping Master Sword glitch. Maybe the Master Sword would have returned to the Lost Woods when you it ran out of energy. You probably wouldn’t have to go back to the Lost Woods to get it, that would be a hassle. It probably would’ve teleported back to you, like the Thor’s Mjolinir.
just some food for thought. the shika monks can change the inside of shrines at will, I know this because in the perfect drink shrine quest there is a gerudo collapsed on a shrine and they will only move if you get them a noble pursuit so you have to carry a ice block back to gerudo town to make the drink and so the shrine is a blessing but there is no way that 10,000 years ago the shikas could have known that would happen and made it a blessing so they must have changed based on the circumstance and this also means the monks are fully aware of what is happening outside there shrines. Also i don't know if other people have already said this and if so im sorry i didn't know
Having enjoyed "most" of Wind Waker all except the Triforce Hunt at the end. Its amazing how years later you realize just how much cut content regarding Nayru's Pearl, the Elemental Arrows and the two Elemental Islands there actually was. Same thing with Mario Sunshine feeling rather lazy in its level design
Jabun's Scream Sound was played in the Wind Waker, a sped of version of it plays after Link opens a chest in a ship. He jumps and looks around, can't find a clip of it, but you might remember it. In addition, Jabun was confirmed to have a dungeon, along with two others (Ice Cavern and Fire Mountain I presume) but they were cut not due to time constraints, but due to disk space on the GameCube disks. With the end cutscene taking up over HALF the game's space.
I would've loved to see the master sword returning to the forest animation in the game, but maybe they could've changed the mechanic, making it so the sword returns on a similar way (flying to link)

just some food for thought. the shika monks can change the inside of shrines at will, I know this because in the perfect drink shrine quest there is a gerudo collapsed on a shrine and they will only move if you get them a noble pursuit so you have to carry a ice block back to gerudo town to make the drink and so the shrine is a blessing but there is no way that 10,000 years ago the shikas could have known that would happen and made it a blessing so they must have changed based on the circumstance and this also means the monks are fully aware of what is happening outside there shrines. Also i don't know if other people have already said this and if so im sorry i didn't know
Cool idea!
The way the Master Sword just goes “I must go now, my planet needs me” is way funnier than it should be 😂
Having enjoyed "most" of Wind Waker all except the Triforce Hunt at the end.
Imagine what it was like for the mad lad that discovered that last glitch.
Those aren’t the hardest and outlandish ones
Fine research on the Beam Blade! You hit upon most aspects of it's history and attempted restorations.
I would've loved to see the master sword returning to the forest animation in the game, but maybe they could've changed the mechanic, making it so the sword returns on a similar way (flying to link)
