My favorite car was the 1970 Dodge Demon. What a ride.

I started following Nascar about 1965. The 43 car was my favorite. They are right about the car being the boss of the fame. Drivers were secondary. Epic arguments in school between Ford and Chevy guys. I still have my 1966 Impala SS396 with 8 track radio.

In those days NASCAR rules allowed cars up to two years old. Junior Johnson won the 1960 Daytona 500 driving a '59 Chevy.

'64' Plymouth Belvedere. Ours was grey metallic with a white top red interior. 318 push button automatic. Mom stops in to fill the car up, pay the attendant he goes around the back of the car mom pushes R instead of D. He jumped like he was shot.

Uhhh...there was a duo who won 5 in a row. That alone would make Chad and JJ the best ever.

@@rox7899 Chad and Jimmie never had to race the cars these boys did. So yes Richard and his crew was one of the best. Imagine Richard having this technology in his prime. I'd bet he'd have had more championships.

I remember being at Martinsville and a young Kyle Petty was lined up behind Richard. The field took the green flag, entering turn one of the first lap Kyle drove into Richard with so much force that Richard hit the car in front of him. Shortening both front and back of his car by a foot.

Richard is like a giant spider crawling out of a race car, Excellent show, I love the looks at the past. The pressure on each new generation to drive has got to be incredible even if the father is pretty much hands off, it’s the fans and more so in NACAR than any other sport, the fans are appreciated rather than tolerated. I’ve never been to a race, I always made fun of the Bubba’s and Darlene’s sitting in the stands, guzzling beer and cheering for a new guy or a vet. Somehow I got converted making me a UA-cam NASCAR fan. I’m Kyle’s age, I’ve got a Kyle son, I’ll take him to NASCAR when you all come back to Phoenix or he’ll take me. One problem, now you addicted me, I can’t see any races live on TV.

Thanks guys its good to hear the real story....been a Petty fan since 74 may be earlier can't remember...but when I hear Richard really drive a Ford for real that must have really been weird for your die hard fans who probably most like me were still ur real fans but I like my MOPAR and I ain't buying a Ford for nothing but I'm still a fan.....
