Vlašić - Babanovac

Vlasic is a mountain in central Bosnia. It lies in the municipality of Travnik. Its highest peak is Paljenik (Opaljenik) (1.933 m). The Vlasic plateau is 1,300 m high and is known for its tradition of making Vlašić cheese, as well as tourism in Babanovac, where the new B & H center of winter tourism, which is visited by foreign guests thanks to the opening of ski slopes and new hotels. On the mountain Vlasic is the river Ugar.
The Vlasic plateau begins at the tip of the Ljuta Greda. There is a vast lawn on the south, with dense meadows towards Vlaška gomila and Paljenik. Numerous sheep (dumbbells) of sheep dogs on these meadows from early spring to late autumn. The center of production of Vlasic cheese is in this place. Winter attracts passionate skiers. For their needs at the end of the 1930s, a large mountain house was built in the heart of Vlasic, near the River Queen under the Crni vrh (1731 m). The second mountain house is on Devečani (1768 m), where there are good marked trails from Travnik and from Turbe via Paklarevo. The Vlasic massif goes west to the Karaula gora, which connects it to Komar-mountain. Above Paklareva Galica goes to Vlasic. From the east it is bordered by the rivers Kozica and Bila.
Vlasic is also a suitable end for bee breeding in this part of Europe, and rural tourism is also developing.
