12.12.23 - School Board Meeting and Special Session Recap

RPS School Board Director, Justin Cook, gives a short summary of some of the highlights from the December 12th School Board Special Session and Regular Meeting.
Topics discussed:
The meeting started out with a special Truth in Taxation hearing. The Board was presented with an overview of the Board’s levy authority. The maximum levy authority would result in 3.9 million dollars that would be collected through 2024 that would be seen in the 2024/2025 school year.
In the regular meeting, the Board was presented with highlights from fall 2023’s athletics teams around the district.
The Board also received updates on Panorama survey data that indicated students' sense of belonging, physical and psychological safety, and importance of student/teacher relationships.
The Board approved the levy that was authorized by the Minnesota Department of Education for 2024 property taxes at the maximum level.
The Board conducted an evaluation of the superintendent in a closed session.
