Satyricon is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Oslo in 1991. Satyr and Frost have been the band's core members since 1993. The band's first three albums typify the Norwegian black metal style. Wikipedia

@@m.k6353 He's kind of a blues rock singer. His solo album Lioness is really good too, worth checking out. He was in a band called Madrugada but I don't know much about them.

Frost is an absolute beast of a drummer.
Yeeess so happy to see a reaction to this classic song. Satyricon has been one of my favorite bands for the last 15 years or so, ever since i started getting into black metal, and this song will always be one of their finest classics. Also particularly love this live version from Oslo with the choir. Cheers from Sweden!

In Black metal, Probably. In extreme metal. Maybe. Not in popular music. Not even in rock. Not even in hardrock/metal. Not saying he isn't though, he may very well be. But he's just not known well enough outside BM to generally speaking be "widely" considered top 10 (including jazz, prog rock, classic rock etc and so forth). And I'm norwegan, and like him, and have known who he is for well over 20 years.
@@HansenFT I should have specified, in metal. There are a number of popular metal publications and articles which rank him in the top 10 metal drummers of all time. So you definitely can't dismiss that he isn't, based on your personal opinion alone or without any proof to the contrary. Also, being Norwegian literally doesn't qualify you on any level, whatsoever. So not sure why you'd mention that at all. But thanks for sharing your opinion.

I Even wrote "he may very well be," just to spoon feed you like a baby " having seen certain "publications" isn't enough when the average metal fan hasn't heard of the guy (think some average Brazilian on an Iron Maiden show for instance, or an American Midwestern Nu-metal fan) There is hundreds upon hundreds of millions of metal fans in the world. No, and I mean, absolutely no black metal band is a household name amgonst the majority of those.. we would have known that in a mini-country like Norway, lol. If they were filthy rich worldwide superstars. They aren't. And that's not personal opinion. I have met several of those guys. One can find publications that write it, and it may even be correct, still doesn't make it "widely considered", because who's to say those specific "publications" representative of "widely held opinion"? 🤔 pluss even that is just a vague claim from you. One could find thousands of publications in this world.

Probability theory is a defined science, which I have studied at university and which you are most likely not aware of. You need to know the number of every single drummer in the genre, in order to calculate what the probability is of him being in the top or not. You certainly don't know, nor have you made that calculation, therefore you cannot categorically confirm nor deny that he isn't. Therefore, given all of the above, automatically, your statement cannot be anything other than your opinion. You have no credentials of any kind in the genre, to decide or tell me that having read certain publications is or isn't enough. You are not a musician (not anyone I'd recognise anyway), you're not a metal journalist, nor an author. Therefore, anything you may have to contribute to the topic, is just your opinion. Nothing more, nothing less. In summation, I'd most certainly take the word of well established and reputable publications and sources in the genre, rather than the OPINION of "random metal fan from Norway", commenting on UA-cam. So don't presume to talk down to me, because we can certainly now see who is "spoon feeding" who, around here. End of.

One of my favourite from Satyricon. Totaly different than these days. If you listen little bit modern songs like "King" you would not believe it´s the same band.

To really see them live properly you have to catch them in Europe. Frost can’t get a visa for the US or Canada because of criminal records.
