For all the people wondering why their cats bring home dead or even sometimes half dead animals, the answer is that they are trying to teach you to hunt. In the wild mother cats train their cubs using a couple of steps
1. Bring home dead animals to eat
2. Bring home half dead animals for the cubs to get used to killing
3. Bring them along to observe a hunt
4. Have them help her in a hunt
5. Eventually she'll leave them hungry so that they are made to go hunt themselves
The first and second steps are what your cat is trying to do and since we don't get farther than that it's not usually apparent what the cat is trying to do.
So there you have it, next time your cat does that think of it like your cat considers you like its offspring and wants to care for you.

Cats can detect your heartbeat across the wall when you're in your bedroom. If they hear your heart beating slow, they know you're asleep and they won't disturb you. But once they hear it speeding up, they know you're in the stage of waking up. The more domesticated a cat is, the better they will be at this.
This is why some cats wake their owners up at 3 a.m (light sleeping stage) v.s more domestic cats will do this at 6-7 a.m (typical waking up time)

it's actually possible to train cats. Most people don't actually train their dogs so nevermind them trying with their cats. Most cats can respond to their names, learn to use a litter box and know how to open doors (even if they didn't figure out how to do it themselves). However, people rarely bother to try to train them even if the technique to train them is the same than with dogs. They are also harder to convince to do the tricks because they really want the reward to be worth the effort, unlike dogs who would do it even if no reward is in sight. So like.. if you use a treat or toy they like they might do the trick for you. Oh and according to a recent study, cats respond better to social rewards like being petted so that can be used as a reward as well.
The wild cat my sister found and picked up learn to always use the litter box and open doors and the funny thing is, if the door is closed, he even tries to spin the doorknob because I think he saw us do it and once, I even saw him succeed. I was awestruck! Yes, my cat does respond to his name being called but, I'm unsure, if that's because we call his name or because cat's ears are sensitive and/or they're curious to know where that weird sound (his name) is coming from. He also, runs towards us, if we call him and chases my dad when he comes home, so yes, cats can be trained.
My cat doesn't respond to her name, but she responds to "Come here Kitty" If you tap the ground next to you.
maybe the name is too long... but if it's not the case. If you call your cat, make sure you give her attention as a reward for her showing up or looking at you (even if it's a coincidence), like petting or feeding her works. Eventually, she'll respond to her name. Not much different than a baby haha.

Her name is two syllables, and she only shows up for me, because I am the only one who feeds/pets her when she comes. She comes to me when I call her name, I meant she doesn't respond when anyone else calls her name.
I think I will just get my friends and family to do what I did, which was scratch her chin whenever she comes over.

My cats knew how to sit, stay, lie down, fetch, get up, come here etc on command. I trained them to respond to voice and hand signals. They were like children and would challenge authority, but I win since I have the ability to open the kibble bag.

As a cat person who's assortment of cats are 90% stray, I can confirm that "meow" is a mama-kitten sound, since all the strays we've taken in have re-learned to meow when they want something; after they've adjusted to us of course.

I currently have 2 cats and one of them just attacks me for no reason. She has bitten me and drawn blood 4 times now, but she is 15 years old and we just got her from the shelter. So I'm just like "Ok guess I'm gonna get bitten every now and again, I can deal." She's a sweetie 99.9% of the time. Point is there are some cats that do attack, but it's worth it :)

You Can train Cats o,O i trained mine because she had to be indoors for awhile because of illness. With no chance to roam outside she got frustrated. But the training (basics like sit, give me paw, turn right or left,...) Helped and she had something to do. It was an amazing time.

And then there is my cat... She is useless as a predator. A lazy, fluffy, pillowy thing that moves about slowly, sleeps a lot and purrs a lot. Hardly what you'd call a predator.
She has tried to catch birds. She mainly does her weird chatter thing, tries to pounce, fails and then goes to have nap, or falls down as if she was limp on her side, waiting for a belly rub.She also loves sleeping on my head. Most pets curl up next to their owners. My cat, goes up on my pillow and sleeps on my head. It's like having your own personalized purring pillow.
