Cold Smoking Tailor in a Rusty Filing Cabinet | Australian Fishing Catch, Cook & Clean
G'day, Dudes & Dudettes! In this vid, I am going to try my best to explain how I use an old rusty filing cabinet to cold smoke the fish I catch. Im very new to this concept but cold smoking fish has been around for yonks!
It's a great way to preserve any fish & it works especially well on Australian Tailor (Blue fish as its called in the states) that have a tendency to soften and become quite a smelly fish once removed from the water and therefore are not regarding as a great fish to eat. Tailor is in abundance on this stretch of the East Coast of Australia and with the right gear and a bit of local knowledge finding them and flicking lures at them is a sure fire way to get results and a heap of fun. They pull hard, have sharp teeth and hit pretty much any lure.
It’s a strange but surprisingly effective technique I’ve been dying to try, and in this video, you’ll get to see the entire process from hook to smoke. I’ll walk you through the steps, show you the fish we catch, and give you a look at how this unconventional method delivers a mouthwatering smoked fish result.
