Our neighbors have a Dexter bull right now. We might use him for clean up after we AI. We prefer Wygu seman for our beef but at this point we just want to get them both pregnant!
How is the frame on the Dexter beef? Are they smaller? Our jersey/Wagyu was pretty big. We have also have a jersey/Angus that looks like she will be big as well.
Our mature bull weighed almost 1,000 and our cow weighs about 650. So I imagine if you cross them with a jersey you were looking to butcher your steers around 850 lb. Dexter's do have a nice beef body confirmation though, they are smaller but I would say they physically look more beefy than a wagyu.
The Suscovich tractors have been fine in the wind. We had one collapse a few years ago but that was during a massive rain and wind storm. We like to let our birds out of the tractor every morning which is why we chose this design as opposed to the Salatin design. I guess it depends on how you use them.
What is your rationale for feeding chickens to your pigs? Pigs are omnivores, true, but with children around I would be very concerned about pigs becoming aggressive and dangerous after eating and fighting with one another over one carcass for so many pigs. You're teaching them to fight for a bloody, fleshy meal. We raise pigs also and this is not an attack on you. I want to understand your reasoning. Also, we're family. 😂 So I'm really not trying to offend.
@qrtrhrsenut - Do you see my reply? I replied yesterday but I am unable to see it on my end. Not sure what happened to it......let me know if you don't see it and I can redo it
Do the meat birds eat the ragweed? I know ragweed is very high in protein if and animal will eat it.
Not sure? They will peck around and eat all of the veg in their paddock. I will pay more attention to the ragweed though!
You can get A2 A2 Dexter bull

Thank you!
How do your Suscovich tractors hold up to the wind? I’m deciding on the Salatin or the Suscovich based off wind. I’m in Colorado too.
