  • Often described as “Inuit soul music,” Pamyua has discovered its own genre. The members are proud to represent Alaska’s Indigenous people though music and dance performances derived from traditional melodies and reinterpreted with contemporary vocalization and instrumentation. Enjoy this performance of “Seal Boy” at the MIM Music Theater, composed and choreographed by Pamyua member Aassanaaq (Phillip Kairaiuak).

I love Pamyua. I met all the men who sing and I got to meet the carver of the masks. Neat. Lovely people. They were also a part of the internship I did.
