I personally think that the Shadow is some sort of shapeshifter [hence why they kept having different designs in that short], and they might like to mimic others and/or possibly scare them. It did look like the Shadow was doing the same pose as Riggy in that one scene. Maybe the Shadow could've been the 'Red Rabbit'? Idk, I suck at theories lol.
Plus, Roggy saying it doesn't exist, would mean that he doesn't believe he feels any guilt, or at least doesn't want anyone to think that he does

The monsters in the teaser could be representations of certain aspects of riggy's mind if the shadow is guilt the meat thing might be anger or rage the red eyes could be jealousy (albeit this one's is a stretch) or a better one fear the clown could be I have no idea what it could represent and cursed riggy might be anxiety

Like I said, my theory on the shadow being riggys guilt he hasn’t come to terms with yet, is still true, also remember, I did come up with this theory originally!
The fact Riggy acknowledged the shadow, *_much less knows what it is_* means it is REAL, but perhaps not a physical being

I had a theory of shadow riggy being a reflection of clone riggy haunting riggy, or even worse. Controlling him. When he says “it’s not real” he had a blank face and before that happened shadow riggy was a blob. A blob that can transfer though body’s. And riggy doesn’t even know who’s controlling. BUT HEY THATS JUST A THOREY A GAMEEEE THRORY!
There is no paper outline because it represents the shadow behind Riggy, carrying his dark side and guilt. As you mentioned, they are real but at the same time, they are not. Perhaps, it is some sort of dark spirit (Shadow) possessing Riggy, which could explain why the left side appears to be in flames. But that is just my theory. :p
He could probably be a big character in riggy's dreams

I think why he has a inconsistent character design is beacause he is a shadow and shadows can change depending on where the thing it is a shadow of is placed, the lighting and how close the object is to the light.

This makes a lot of sense, especially considering the way Riggy talks about it. "He's not an enemy. He doesn't exist." in a way that implies he's too scared to admit the shadow is real, or is denying it. Could also be why it seems to have multiple forms, even Riggy is not sure what it looks like.
This short might have been proven wrong now, I dunno, I just thought I'd share my thoughts anyway :D

Maybe the shadow not having a paper outline means that he’s a being from a higher dimension, just there, watching, and the paper characters might not be able to see it, but us, the viewers, can see a shadow of an outline,
That or it is just guilt/nightmares etc.
If I had a nickel for every time I was invested in a form of media in which the main protagonist was followed by a shadowy figure that represents the guilt of past mistakes, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice.

I'd like to add the fact how Danno says that the shadow is metaphorical.
I have a slight theory, and its that all the monsters are manifestations of Riggy's bad side of himself, and how he see's himself. The shadow being his guilt, the toothy monster thing representing the fear he gives to others, and the clown for humiliation or seeing himself as a joke. IDK IM NEW TO THEORIZING.
In the short were Danno was talking about Riggy's enemies he calls the shadow metaphorical. So the shadow could be a metaphor for Riggy's guilt or something else.

i have two theories about this. the first one is i think he is real but he's just a shadow of clone riggy. we "think" that clone riggy is probably older than the other clones because you theorized that the scientist is inside clone riggy and when he completely shatters and breaks down the scientist will rise. and we know that the "shadows" of the characters doesn't have any outlines. and i think that clone riggy was following riggy in toon turf but he doesn't show himself and riggy just sees his "shadow". and the fact that there is a picture of him where he doesn't have eyes that proves that he could be a shadow. and about the eyes and the fact that his body is very thin in one picture... first about the eyes you might wonder if he's a shadow why does he have eyes. i think that the eyes are an imagination of riggy and why are they shaped like this is that you know how the most of us the people fear the characters that has weird looking "not human like" eyes and as "i think" that riggy fears him he imagened his eyes would be like this because no one in his world has these kind of eyes. and secondly about the fact that his body is thin in a picture is that i think clone riggy tries so hard to not show riggy himself he travels so fast that riggy sees him in a shape like that. this could also be the reason why he is a litteral ball in an image and why riggy says he doesn't exist is that he probably thinks that because only he sees him and he thinks he is crazy. and my other theory is that he might have existed before clone riggy and he was just a soul from "another world" and we know that clone riggy has two souls in him (that's why he is cracking) and we think that one of them is the scientist. and the other one might be "the shadow"
