There is nothing spiritual in Faust's character, No doubt that Faust is the best character ever created, but full of heresy as Goethe's real personality was. Faust's character always been controversial and demonic and therefore was hidden for centuries, it came out openly after the religious imprint had weakened. You are talking totally in the opposite perspective in my opinion. We need to discuss it
