For all of his success Phil is somehow criminally underrated. He was a monster of a player, singer, songwriter and showman. He was a consummate professional, had an otherworldly work ethic and just recorded hit after hit. Whether it was with Genesis or Solo, everything he produced was brilliant. Everyone knows the hits, but there is much gold to be mined in the deep tracks.
Big time underrated. The late Taylor Hawkins said Phil was an inspiration to him. The late Neil Peart said Phil’s timing was impeccable. Unreal musician.
I kind of get where you're coming from, but Phil Collins is one of the most successful and beloved artists of all time. How is that underrated? I think you mean his success maybe outshines his actual abilities. As in people who aren't really familiar with him see the superstar, but don't really know he's a monster musician, that he's technically very gifted. They only see the singer. Or maybe you mean that critics always loved to hate on him? That is true, and Phil notoriously resented that.
What I really wish for is that Phil Collins could see all the fabulous comments his fans leave so he knows how much he is loved. Phil we love and miss you so very much. I am sending best wishes and much health your way.

That was worth the price of admission all by itself!!!
My goodness..I never knew Phil could hit the drums badass?!! Just him singing is way enough already...drums?! Slay !!!! ❤️
Phil was a drummer a long time before becoming a lead singer :D he was the Genesis former drummer
Davix I guess back then there weren’t any Videos of Genesis’ I had watched form where I Come form 😁. All there was were songs of the band I got to listen to on radios. But hey..thanks for the info..makes sense to me now. 👌
I'm a huge Genesis and PC fan, but endless drum soloing leaves me cold..
wow, just wow. not just drum beats but rythm and music in the drums. brilliant. primal.
Was so grateful to have seen him live in Houston back in the 80's in his prime in my opinion. Thank you Phil for all the years, now just lay back and take it easy and enjoy life.
Phil Collins and Chester Thompson are amazing together, but Luis Conte just added a part I wasn't aware was missing until it was heard. Bravo.
About 20~30sec into Louis's intro, he gets a little out of time, Phil Masterfully brings him back, with a smile.
Legend.
@@markoreilly3414 sharp ear! Bravo sir. Cheers
Two of the top ten Drummers of all time. Chester and Phil.
I stille love this one ..
Absoluter Wahnsinn. Ganz Toll
I've heard it about 100 times now and it's definitely the best concert opener I've ever experienced.
amazing
absolutely
Got you by 1.😂
Thus video will always be special to me. First one I watched of phil drumming. I was mesmerized as a 14 year old. I had only been playing for 4 years to simple stuff like Greenday and Coldplay. This video opened a whole new world for me and I’ve been obsessed with everything Genesis and Phil Collins since
A most excellent drum battle. And the winner is me, because I got to watch it.
Phil is the King of rhythm. When you can’t play rhythm it’s hard to live life especially if you are born to it as Phil is.
These three are some of the best master drummers I’ve ever seen!
Вот это работа, чувств,эмоций,силы,это прсто,слов нет, Респект, и уважение, слушаю его и смотрю давно,один из лучших исполнителей
Mercy! Mercy! Mercy! I appreciate a man who knows what the hallelujah he is doing ..., and Phil does, exceptional well. ❤ take care.
How hard it must be to not be able to enjoy drumming when you love it!! Thank you!!!❤
One of the greatest drummers, singer, songwriter of any generations!!
Phil always exuded energy, talent and creativity on stage for decades, from his youth. Now his retirement has come, his life marked ours, of several generations... thanks for everything Phil, give your body and soul to music, rock, pop, many experiences and good times. God bless you and enjoy the rest of the years that remain in peace and harmony, you were, are and will be a legacy for posterity, your memory will endure, your soul will float forever as a legacy for current and future generations. Thanks Phil!
I really Enjoy Phill s Drumming Techniques. I saw him performed with Genenis in 1982 in Querns ,New York.
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe.
What an inspiration for all drummers. He is amazing
Why isn't there a feckin awesome button instead of just LIKE!!!!
Phil Collins is a musical genius.
Hi there, I was just going through a post on a page then your profile caught my attention and you seem worth talking to so I could not pass by without saying hi and ask how you doing. Do you mind us talking and getting to know each other better, I will love to be in your circle of friends. But I don't want to send you a Friend request without your permission, hope you don't mind sending me a friend request?
how do you figure?
Thank you, JOKER, for keeping this video up here. This is just like watching an Olympic athlete perform years later. Thank god this was put on film so we can still see it now. Phil Collins is the greatest drummer of all time. And he basically gave his body and his spine, to the drums. He's in too much pain now to do this anymore. He's losing his mobility from the damage. Just like I am. He is easily the hottest man who has ever lived. No matter what age he is, he will STILL be the hottest man who has ever lived.
Это Класс!!! Это из Юности! .... - спасибо что вновь услышал!.....
Happy birthday Phil Collins Sir! Thank you so much for the great music. God bless. Love from USA.
Some of the greatest drummers on Earth hold Phil in the highest regards
Agreed!!
The best of the best have sighted Phil as a huge influence on their drumming. Neil Peart has stated that when he heard Phil play live in 1972 or so, he knew he had to step up his game. He said that Phil’s playing still influenced him in his early days.
Wow! 👌

Frankly speaking he should have stayed with drumming more.
He is versatile. From a drummer to lead singer of GENESIS.
Saw once ATLANTA, GA THE OMNI...78 AND THEN THERE WERE THREE TOUR.... speechless.....still covering plenty GABRIEL material and i love this album AND THEN THERE WERE THREE album anyway.....
Superior drumming by the incomparable Phil Collins!
Love it!! ♥️♥️
How I love, respect and admire these people... They are so necessary to the world... Thank you for making us feel part of the wonderful energy of music!!! Phil Collins, Chester Thompson and Luis Conte three greatest of all time
there are so many more greatest of all time, christian vander (magma) and pierre moerlen (gong) immediately come to my mind...
Yes sir.
They are all pedos...
@@jakobjankowski4386 fishing for angry replies, cunning and cool - you get a big bravo from me!
Phil and Chester I knew - thanks for letting me know who Luis is! :-)
My arms are burning just watching these dudes
I could write a detailed explanation why drums are the best instrument ever, but I think Phil can explain it way better than I ever could.
Wowee this is just brilliant. What talent these gentlemen have. It takes your breath away.
