String Change On Headless Bass

  • This is how I usually change strings on my Ibanez EHB1000.
I never liked the look of the pointy end of the string sticking out of the locking mechanism on the headstock, so I found a way to get rid of those whenever I change strings.
However this isn't purely for aesthetic purpuses, those pointy ends can and will scrach the inside of your gigbag everytime you take out your bass if you're not careful.
Also I can grab the headstock to bow the neck and add some vibrato effect on the open strings whenever I want without having to watch out for those pointy string ends.

If you think so, a better tutorial may be titled "Do I Have OCD?"

Are those roundwound or flatwound strings? Have you tried using flatwounds? Thanks

@@horriefic They are daddario EXL170 roundwound, I've never tried flatwound on bass

Do you see any potential weaknesses in the bridge? Other headless designs I've had ended up breaking, so I'm apprehensive to try another one.
